Ivanov Triples Up and Mugulov Busts in Battle of Pocket Pairs

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

The action started with a raise to 6,000 by Nikolay Ivanov and Bleron Maliqi three-bet to 18,000. Steven Mulder four-bet to 42,000 in the small blind and Emin Mugulov in the big blind sighed after glancing at his cards. He eventually jammed for around 60,000 and Ivanov called all-in for 42,500.

"How much are you playing? Around two hundred?" Maliqi inquired with Mulder and then folded.

"I think you have aces but I call," Mulder said and the cards were flipped over.

Nikolay Ivanov: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}
Emin Mugulov: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Steven Mulder: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

The {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} flop gave two players a set while Mugulov was alive with a gutshot. He repeatedly asked for for a jack but the wish wasn't granted on the {5-Spades} turn nor {8-Spades} river.

"That was beautiful Ma'am," Ivanov concluded the clash of pocket pairs while smiling at the dealer.

Greenwood Claims a Victim

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Jerry Odeen raised to 6,000 in the cutoff and Hrayr Grigoryan shipped all in for just over 50,000 in the small blind. Sam Greenwood flat-called from the big blind and Odeen got out of the way.

Hrayr Grigoryan: {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Sam Greenwood: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}

The flop came {q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and Greenwood took a sizeable lead with a pair of queens. The {6-Spades} on the turn and the {2-Hearts} on the river were no help to Grigoryan who was eliminated.

Hadioglu Loses a Bunch to Beresford

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Nuri Hadioglu raised to 6,500 and Conor Beresford opted to just call from the next seat. Both headed to the {k-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop on which Hadioglu bet 6,000 and received a call. After the {4-Clubs} turn, Hadioglu bet another 8,500 for Beresford to come along and the {7-Clubs} river completed the board.

Hadioglu now checked and Beresford bet 34,000 to force a tank-fold from his table neighbour.

Stumpf Gets the Double

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Ka Kwan Lau opened to 6,500 and picked up a call from Victor Vozian on the button. Frank Stumpf then reraised all in for 57,500 from the small blind. The big blind folded and action was back on Lau who picked up a massive stack of blue 5,000 chips and put them over the line. Vozian threw his hand in the muck and the all-in players showed their hands.

Frank Stumpf: {k-Spades}{10-Spades}
Ka Kwan Lau: {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

Stumpf was at risk and behind but the board ran out {k-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{6-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and his pair of kings secured him a double up.

Assorted Counts in the Field

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Martinsek Out in Two Hands

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Jan Martinsek could not beat the {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} of Alexander Tkatschew when the latter made the top two pair on a {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{10-Hearts}{2-Hearts} board.

Left with fumes, he got it in soon after with the {7-Spades}{5-Clubs} and was called by Diego Montone with the {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} from the very next seat.

The board ran out {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and that spelled the end for Martinsek just outside of the top 200 spots.

Round of Recent Bustouts

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Ktenas Shows the Aces

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Bleron Maliqi raised to 6,000 in early position and Nikolaos Ktenas re-raised to 20,000 a couple of seats over. Maliqi called and the dealer fanned the flop of {a-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Spades}.

Both players instantly checked and the {9-Hearts} paired the board on the turn. Maliqi led out with a bet of 15,000 and Ktenas called to see the {j-Hearts} on the river.

Maliqi checked this time and Ktenas grabbed a bet of 23,000. Maliqi quickly folded and Ktenas flashed {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} as he raked in the pot.

Lau Binks an Ace

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Dawid Smolka opened to 6,500 in the cutoff and ran into an immediate three-bet on the button to 18,000 from table chip leader Ka Kwan Lau. Action folded back to Smolka who moved all in for about 55,000. Lau made the call.

Dawid Smolka: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Ka Kwan Lau: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Lau was ace hunting against Smolka's queens, and the runout obliged with {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{j-Spades}{5-Diamonds} to send Smolka home as Lau's latest casualty.

Aspas Doubles Through Nacer

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

On a completed board to the {k-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts} with around 75,000 in the middle, Abel Aspas was all-in for 50,000 from an early position. Samir Nacer was in the tank on the button for more than five minutes and he kept staring at the tournament info screen while most other players had already left for the break.

"I am afraid that I have show my cards if I call," Nacer said. Half a minute later, he did so and Aspas rolled over the {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} for a set. Several players from the table had stuck around to see the showdown as Nacer exposed {6-Spades}{4-Spades} for third pair before heading into the now shorter break.
