Mattila Hits a Two-Outer to Bust Kalkan

Level 19 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Ismail Kalkan got the last of his 165,000 chips in the middle on the button and was called by Jussi Mattila in the big blind on the last hand before the break.

Ismail Kalkan: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Jussi Mattila: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The flop came {a-Clubs}{4-Spades}{8-Hearts} and Kalkan spiked an ace to take the lead. The {8-Diamonds} on the turn changed nothing but the {k-Spades} on the river was one of the two cards Mattila needed in order to eliminate Kalkan.

D'Alterio Check-Raises River for It All

Level 20 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Luigi D'Alterio
Luigi D'Alterio

Maksim Shornikau opened from early position and picked up three callers; Lander Lijo on the button, Luigi D'Alterio in the small blind, and Benjamin Lebor in the big blind.

The flop came out {j-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{j-Clubs}. Action checked to Shornikau, who continued for 28,000. Only D'Alterio called and the two headed to a turn.

The turn brought the {8-Clubs}. On that card, both players checked.

The river brought the {6-Hearts}. For a third time, D'Alterio checked. Shornikau decided to bet the river for 85,000. After about 20 seconds, D'Alterio moved all in, 530,000 effective in Shornikau's stack. Shornikau did give it some thought, but he eventually let it go and D'Alterio picked up the pot.
