Salas, Schillhabel Among Those Chasing Amiri on Final Day of €10,300 EPT High Roller

Damian Salas
Damian Salas

One of the final massive tournaments from the PokerStars and Barcelona©Casino European Poker Tour wraps up Sunday, with 16 remaining hopefuls looking to claim €962,880, a PokerStars Spadie trophy, and the title of 2022 EPT Barcelona €10,300 EPT High Roller champion.

It will be Australian Ehsan Amiri in pole position with 4,115,000 chips after a dominant Day 2 that saw him build his stack throughout the day, including the elimination of PokerStars Ambassador Andre Akkari on the final hand to send him over the 100 big blind mark to start Sunday’s play.

Plenty of notables remain in the hunt for the title, however, including German crusher Stefan Schillhabel (2,710,000), who won an EPT Prague €10,300 High Roller in 2016, PokerStars Ambassador and Inaugural PSPC champion Ramon Colillas (1,800,000) former SCOOP champion Laszlo Molnar (1,710,000), and Damian Salas (1,160,000), who’s won both EPT Online and SCOOP championships.

Rui on Rui Violence Sees Ferreira Double Through Bouquet

Level 25 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Rui Ferreira
Rui Ferreira

After Kyriakos Papadopoulos raised to 80,000 on the button, Rui Ferreira moved all in for 1,050,000. Rui Bouquet then called in the big blind with Ferreira covered and Papadopoulos folded.

Rui Ferreira: {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Rui Bouquet: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

The flop came {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}, giving Ferreira top two pair, but adding a potential gutshot to Bouquet's outs.

The {2-Spades} on the turn and {7-Spades} on the river couldn't help Bouquet as he sent over a third of his stack to his namesake.

Eric Rabl Eliminated in 14th Place (€58,350)

Level 26 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Eric Rabl
Eric Rabl

Ehsan Amiri has been dominating the table with a series of raises and three-bets. In one of the latest hands, Amiri opened from the cutoff and a fed-up Eric Rabl on the button three-bet the chip leader, who then called.

Amiri checked on the flop of {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{10-Spades} and Rabl bet 180,000. Amiri called. Amiri checked again on the {k-Clubs} turn and Rabl checked back.

The river brought the {a-Spades} and Amiri checked for a third time. Rabl took a moment before pushing out his stack of 845,000 for an all-in bet. Amiri went into the tank and stared down his opponent behind a pair of blue-tinted sunglasses. After using two time banks, Amiri called.

Rabl tabled a stone bluff with {9-Hearts}{6-Clubs} for nine-high and Amiri let out a gasp that was equal parts in relief and in shock before he tabled {a-Clubs}{5-Spades} for trips, more than enough to win the pot. Rabl hit the rail in 14th place as those at the table tried to wrap their heads around the meltdown they had witnessed.

"Nine-six off?!" F***!" Amiri exclaimed after extending his already massive chip lead.

"Wow," contributed Ramon Colillas.

After Rui Bouquet opened to 100,000 in early position, Ramon Colillas moved all in for 830,000 on the button and Bouquet called.

Ramon Colillas: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Rui Bouquet: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

The {10-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop was safe for the PokerStars Ambassador, but the {k-Clubs} on the turn and then the {a-Diamonds} on the river sealed his fate in 13th place.

Antoine Labat

After raising in early position, Daewoong Song called the all-in bet of Antoine Labat for 320,000 to put the Frenchman at risk.

Antoine Labat: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Daewoong Song: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}

The {q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} flop brought Song some help, pairing his queen, and the turn brought even more with the {q-Diamonds}.

The {8-Spades} on the river filled Song up and brought the field down to 11 players.

The Ehsan Amiri show continues, as he has eliminated another player and extended his already commanding lead.

Amiri raised to 125,000 under the gun and was called by Rui Bouquet in the small blind and Lander Lijo in the big blind.

The flop came {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{7-Spades} and after his opponents in the blinds checked, Amiri continued for 250,000.

Bouquet then moved all in for 1,345,000. Lijo folded, but Amiri went into the tank briefly before calling for the opportunity to send another player to the rail.

Rui Bouquet: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Ehsan Amiri: {k-Spades}{9-Spades}

Amiri's pair led Bouquet's flush draw, and after the {8-Diamonds} turn and {2-Clubs} river, the Australian had secured another knockout as his stack hit the nine million chip mark.

Wilson on Fumes After Broadway vs Boat Collision

Level 27 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Andrew Wilson
Andrew Wilson

In a blind-versus-blind confrontation, Laszlo Molnar opened from the small blind and Andrew Wilson three-bet to 480,000 from the big blind. Molnar called.

The flop landed {q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{j-Spades} and Molar checked. Wilson bet 275,000 and Molnar called. Molnar checked again on the {q-Diamonds} turn and Wilson sized up to 400,000. Molnar used through a time bank and called.

The river brought the {3-Hearts} and Molnar again checked. Wilson used a time bank before fired a third barrel of 645,000, which Molnar met with a snap-call.

Wilson proudly tabled {a-Spades}{k-Spades} for a Broadway straight, which he surely thought was good to win the pot. But Molnar then tabled {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} for tens full of queens. Wilson had flopped the nut straight with a redraw to the nut flush but Molnar boated up on the turn to leave the Brit visibly flustered and riding fumes after the gut-wrenching cooler.

Wilson's luck may be turning around as he doubled up his nub of 175,000 through Stefan Schillhabel a few hands later when his {a-Spades}{7-Clubs} held up against the {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs} of the German.

At the other table, Kyriakos Papadopoulos doubled up through chip leader Ehsan Amiri when his {a-Spades}{k-Spades} dominated the Aussie's {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}.
