Day 3 of the €5,300 2022 PokerStars and Barcelona©Casino European Poker Tour Main Event has wrapped up after six levels of play with 64 players remaining and Brazil's Peterson Machado out in front.

Machado, who with $10,008 in Hendon Mob live earnings is after his first major score, was one of 210 players who returned for the third day of the record-shattering Main Event and made the most of it by bagging a stack of 4,470,000. The Brazilian will be joined on Day 4 by reigning champion Simon Brandstrom, who took down the last EPT Barcelona Main Event back in 2019 for €1,290,166.

As Brandstrom chases another title, Kalidou Sow, who took down the EPT Prague back in 2017, will be doing the same, as will 2018 PCA champion Maria Lampropulos. Some of the former EPT and PCA champs who made Day 3 but couldn't find a bag include Chino Rheem, Sebastian Malec, Marcelo Simoes and Antonio Buonanno.

Lampropulos joins France's Gaelle Baumann as one of two women left standing at the end of Day 3 after Xuan Liu, who made poker history a decade ago by becoming the first woman to make a PCA Main Event final table, was eliminated during the last level of play when her ace-queen couldn't win a flip against the nines of Jack Salter.

Other notables who made Day 4 include the USA's Michael Wang, Argentina's Ramiro Petrone and Hungary's Gergely Kulcsar.

Those eliminated during Day 3, meanwhile, include PokerStars ambassador Benjamin Spragg, Stephen Chidwick, Leo Margets, Benjamin Diebold, Nacho Barbero, Timothy Adams, David Peters, Julien Martini and Andres Korn — a handful of whom were quick to hop into the adjacent €25,000 Single-Day High Roller II.

Day 4 will kick off on Friday, Aug 19 at noon local time on Level 23 with blinds of 10,000/25,000/25,000. Two more days will follow before a winner is named to take home the trophy, the title and the top prize of €1,714,000.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be back on-site tomorrow at the beachside Casino Barcelona to finish out coverage ahead of the crowning of the next EPT champion.

Liu Ousted by Salter

Level 22 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Xuan Liu
Xuan Liu

Xuan Liu opened to 40,000 from middle position and Jack Salter three-bet to 115,000 on the button. Action folded back to Liu who jammed for approximately 575,000, and Salter called.

Xuan Liu: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Jack Salter: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}

Liu needed to win the race to survive, but the {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop left her drawing thin against Salter's set and she started to get up from her seat. The {a-Clubs} turn left her drawing dead, and the meaningless {6-Diamonds} river confirmed her elimination in 67th place following a deep run.

Andrei Boghean
Andrei Boghean

Andrei Boghean jammed for 170,000 from early position, and Jordan Saccucci three-bet to 340,000 in the hijack, causing everyone else to fold.

Andrei Boghean: {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Jordan Saccucci: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

Boghean had live cards, but the board ran out {j-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{5-Hearts} to improve Saccucci to a flush, sending the Romanian to the rail.

Boghean Runs Right Into Saccucci's Aces

Level 22 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Andrei Boghean
Andrei Boghean

Andrei Boghean raised to 40,000 from the cutoff before Jordan Saccucci in the small blind made it 120,000. Boghean four-bet to 275,000, Saccucci moved all in for 1,225,000, and Boghean quickly called.

Jordan Saccucci: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}
Andrei Boghean: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

Boghean could only lower his head when he saw Saccucci's aces and threw his cards across the table. The board ran out {7-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and Boghean was left paying off the massive pot, leaving himself with just over 100,000 and Saccucci with more than 2,400,000.

Mokri Continues To Dominate

Level 22 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Kayhan Mokri
Kayhan Mokri

Action folded around to Kayhan Mokri on the button who opened for 45,000 and only Giuliano Bendinelli came along in the big blind.

On the flop of {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, Bendinelli check-called a bet of 80,000 from Mokri. The turn came the {j-Spades} and Bendinelli checked again. Mokri kept the pressure on with a sizing of 210,000.

Bendinelli counted his chips, and after close to 30 seconds let his hand go, awarding the pot to the Day 2 chip leader.

No Back-to-Back EPT Titles for Simoes

Level 22 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Marcelo Simoes
Marcelo Simoes

Marcelo Simoes bet 200,000 on a board of {5-Clubs}{9-Spades}{k-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Scott Margereson called on the button.

The river came the {j-Spades} and Simoes shoved for his last 350,000, with Margereson snap-calling. Simoes showed {8-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for two pair, but Margereson had {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for the turned flush.

Simoes, who won EPT Monte Carlo three months ago, was sent to the rail as Margereson climbed to around 2,400,000.

"Final table stack," a tablemate told Margereson after Simoes made his exit.

"No. Not even close," Margereson replied.

Wang Cracks Lijo's Aces to Stay Alive

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Michael Wang
Michael Wang

Michael Wang opened to 35,000 on the button and Lander Lijo three-bet to 90,000 in the big blind. Wang thought about his decision before moving all in for approximately 340,000, and Lijo snap-called.

Michael Wang: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Lander Lijo: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

Wang was in rough shape against the pocket rockets as the cameras surrounded the table to catch the runout. The dealer fanned out the {j-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop to give Wang a bit of hope with a gutshot draw, and the {10-Hearts} was put down onto the felt on the turn to instantly secure his double with a straight.

The meaningless {3-Clubs} completed the board and Wang survived on the fortunate runout, while Lijo's aces were cracked and the Spaniard was left with around ten big blinds.

Sinclair Busts to Lopez

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Jack Sinclair
Jack Sinclair

Jack Sinclair was all in for around 300,000 against Emmanuel Lopez, who had him covered.

Jack Sinclair: {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
Emmanuel Lopez: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}

"Not a flip," Sinclair said as he saw he was up against a superior overpair. The board ran out {5-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and the Brit could not hit to stay alive despite his rooting for a seven.

Just days ago, the 2018 WSOP Europe Main Event champion finished runner-up in the €1,100 Estrellas Poker Tour Main Event for €377,120.

Mokri's Turned Boat Secures Massive Knockout

Level 21 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Kayhan Mokri
Kayhan Mokri

Kayhan Mokri reraised to 60,000 from the big blind over the top of an early position raise by Gabriel Moura before Moura four-bet to 345,000. Mokri then shoved all in and Moura called for around 650,000 more, creating a massive pot.

Gabriel Moura: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Kayhan Mokri: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}

The {4-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop was no help to the at-risk player, while the {q-Diamonds} on the turn improved Mokri to a full house and left Moura drawing dead. The {a-Clubs} appeared on the river too late for Moura and he made his exit, while Mokri, the overnight chip leader, is now up to around 2,500,000.

Kehoe Makes Tough Call For His Tournament Life

Stephen Kehoe
Stephen Kehoe

Stephen Kehoe and Ibrahim Aksu saw the turn on a board of {4-Hearts}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts} when Kehoe bet 25,000 from under the gun.

Aksu came back with a raise to 110,000 and Kehoe used a time bank before calling. The river came the {q-Spades} and Kehoe checked.

Aksu then slid forward a stack of chips to put Kehoe all in for his last 190,000, and Kehoe used another time bank before calling to put himself at risk.

Aksu showed {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for just ace-high and Kehoe had {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for two pair, fives and threes, to earn the double up.
