Mokri Takes a Big Pot Without a Showdown

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Kayhan Mokri
Kayhan Mokri

With a giant pot of near 600,000 in the middle and a full board of {9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{j-Clubs}, Adolphe Weinberg bet 125,000 and Kayhan Mokri shoved from the next seat over for 373,000.

Weinberg went into the tank and talked out all of the possibilities. He seemed to zero in on the chance that his opponent was holding {7-}{7-}, and eventually he got away from it.

Mokri smiled and dragged the pot, showing only {j-Hearts}.

Pihela Flips and is Eliminated by Giorgi

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Theodore Giorgi opened to 24,000 from early position and Igor Pihela Jr jammed for 70,000 in middle position. Action folded to the big blind who accidentally tried to call the 24,000 bet, causing the floor to be called. After a ruling, he folded his hand after having to surrender the chips he put into the pot, and Giorgi called.

Igor Pihela Jr: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Theodore Giorgi: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

The board ran out {q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and Giorgi found an ace on the turn to claim the pot and eliminate his opponent.

Mateos Eliminated by Di Ceglie

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Adrian Mateos
Adrian Mateos

In a battle of the blinds between two short stacks, Pasquale Di Ceglie open-jammed into Adrian Mateos and the Spaniard instantly called with the slightly inferior stack.

Adrian Mateos: {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Pasquale Di Ceglie: {q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Clubs were dominated but Di Ceglie instead got there with his two live cards on the {q-Hearts}{7-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{j-Clubs} board to send Mateos to the rail. He jumped out of his seat in celebration to tell the good news to his partner on the rail. Biggest stack on the table is another Spanish player in Javier Gomez Zapatero.

Forestiero Doubles Through Chaoui

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

With plenty of chips already in the middle to the {q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, Roberto Forestiero faced the all-in by table captain Mehdi Chaoui and reluctantly called for his last 215,000.

Once the cards were exposed, there were some gasps from other players as Forestiero tabled the {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the nut straight with the flush draw. Chaoui had some outs with {3-Clubs}{3-Spades} for the bottom set but the {k-Diamonds} river only improved Forestiero to a flush.

"It's okay, I know they will come back to me, later," Chaoui said with confidence and a smile on the face.

Cinca Runs Out of Time

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

With {10-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} on the board, Alexandru Cinca shoved his small stack into the middle and Michele Guerrini called quickly. Cinca turned over {4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for the flush draw and Guerrini tabled {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for the lead with jacks and tens.

The board ran out with no diamond for Cinca and Guerrini's jacks held on to eliminate him from the tournament.

Giorgi Outflops Bono to Double

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Theodore Giorgi had his 125,000 chips in from early position and was at risk against Alan Bono in the small blind.

Theodore Giorgi: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Alan Bono: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

The two were flipping and although Georgi made top pair on the {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop, Giorgi improved to a set. The {10-Spades} turn provided a sweat, but the {3-Diamonds} completed the board to confirm Giorgi's double.

Cinca Gets Short and Doubles

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Sergej Babincev got his short stack of 76,000 and tabled the {a-Spades}{8-Spades} in showdown. Alexandru Cinca had that covered and beaten with the {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades} but the ace came on the {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} board.

Cinca was left with fumes and doubled them when his {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts} got there against the {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} of Tibor Nagygyorgy. The ace came once more on the {a-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} board as Cinca retained his chances to make it even further in this event.

Saliba Caught Bluffing by Wojtas

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

With more than 350,000 in the middle already on a completed board of {j-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{6-Spades} board, Justin Saliba moved all-in out of the big blind with the covering stack. Jakub Wojtas called all-in for 196,000 from an early position and Saliba immediately mentioned "I think I cover," which he did.

However, his move with {5-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for a busted flush draw had gone wrong and Wojtas' {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts} secured the double.

Rene Zaffran
Rene Zaffran

On a heads-up turn of {j-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{a-Spades}, Rene Zaffran bet 30,000 and Kazuhiko Yotsushika then check-jammed all-in for what appeared to be 125,000. The instant call of Zaffran followed and both players turned over top pair.

Kazuhiko Yotsushika: {a-Clubs}{4-Spades}
Rene Zaffran: {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

The kicker played once the board completed with the {6-Diamonds} river, sending Yotsushika to the payout desk.

Shehadeh Eliminated by Lukash

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Luigi Shehadeh
Luigi Shehadeh

Following a flop of {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades}, Luigi Shehadeh in a middling position check-raised to 129,000 and received a call from table neighbour Ruslan Lukash. They headed to the {6-Clubs} turn on which Shehadeh checked and subsequently called a bet worth 70,000 by Lukash.

The {3-Spades} fell on the river and Shehadeh moved all-in for around 170,000 to pick up a snap-call by Lukash. Shehadeh turned over the {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for the nut flush but Lukash had the best of it with {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} for a turned full house.
