Speranza Jams Into Atoui

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

Heads-up to the {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop, Gianluca Speranza bet 3,500 in the small blind and Kamel Atoui called in the hijack. "Please don't cover your stack," Speranza told his opponent who moved forward his chips for the Italian to see.

Speranza led the {3-Diamonds} turn for 7,500 and earned a call to then push the {3-Hearts} river with the covering stack. Atoui mulled it over for a bit and elected to fold.

Margets Leaves Toebbe Short

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

Johannes Toebbe in the small blind and Leo Margets in the hijack created a pot of 21,600 to the {k-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts}{10-Hearts} river on which Toebbe opted to check. Margets bet 27,000 with the far superior stack and Toebbe only gave it brief consideration before he folded.

After conceding the pot, the German dropped below one third of the starting stack while Margets jumped to more than two times of what she started with.

Petrone Chips Up Against Jorstad

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

Following a board of {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{5-Spades}, Espen Jorstad bet 14,200 and received a reluctant call by Ramiro Petrone from one seat over. Jorstad tabled the {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for aces and tens but Petrone had that beat with the {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} for aces and jacks.

Oya Chops With Nikolaev

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

With some 19,000 in the middle and the board showing {10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{7-Spades}{a-Clubs}, Masashi Oya bet 5,400 with 5,000 behind. Mikhail Nikolaev reluctantly called and Oya tabled the {q-Spades}{10-Spades} to which Nikolaev mucked his cards.

However, the cards had not hit the muck yet as Nikolaev pulled em back to reveal the {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. The floor was called and since the cards could still be retrieved and identified, the hand ended in a split pot.

Tkatschew Jams the River

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

With 8,000 in the pot and {a-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs} on the board, Farid Jattin bet 3,000 and Alexander Tkatschew called from the cutoff. The turn was {q-Spades}.

Jattin continued for 7,000 and Tkatschew called once more. The river was {4-Clubs}.

Jattin checked the river and Tkatschew shoved but Jattin had no interest in calling so he quickly tossed his hand in the muck. Tkatschew dragged the pot and moved over 50,000 as Day 1a begins to near its halfway point.

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante
Tamon Nakamura
Tamon Nakamura

Tamon Nakamura got his short stack in with the {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and Emil Bise did so with the {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. Tsugunari Toma had the by far biggest stack of the three players involved and turned over {3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}.

The {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{8-Spades} board improved Bise to the superior full house and Nakamura was sent to the rail.

Qu Takes From Swiderski With River Raise

Level 3 : 100/300, 300 ante

Swiderski continued for 6,000 and Qu called quickly to see {9-Clubs} on the river.

After a few moments of thought, Swiderski fired another 6,000. Qu shuffled out his chips and raised to 12,000. It was too much for Swiderski and he tossed his hand in the muck to preserve is last 12,000.

Sitbon Pays Off Toma in Very Long Hand

Level 3 : 100/300, 300 ante
Tsugunari Toma
Tsugunari Toma

With 18,100 in the middle and the turn showing {5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{j-Spades}, Thi Xoa Nguyen checked in the small blind and so did Julien Sitbon in middle position and Tsugunari Toma on the button.

Nguyen then bet the {2-Clubs} river for 12,000 and Sitbon went into a long tank. The clock was called on him and he then called within the 30 seconds only for Toma to glance at Nguyen's stack and raise to 25,000.

Nguyen folded after short consideration and Sitbon was stunned. "Oh my god, I knew you didn't have it," he said in French and the next tank by Sitbon followed. He was called the clock upon a second time and the Frenchman then called, again.

Toma rolled over the {8-Spades}{6-Hearts} for a straight and Sitbon mucked his cards in disgust. "You have aces, I know," Toma said in table chat.
