Nakamura Doubles to "Very Big Stack"

Level 3 : 100/300, 300 ante

Tamon Nakamura was down to a few chips only which he got in before the flop with the {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}. He was looked up by fellow countryman Tsugunari Toma in the small blind with the {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}.

It was Toma who got there on the {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop but the {6-Spades} turn and {q-Spades} river kept Nakamura in contention. "Now I have a very big stack," he joked.

Pitcho Shoves and Splits

Level 3 : 100/300, 300 ante

Alexey Losev raised from middle position and Luca Giovannone called from cutoff before Didier Pitcho shoved his last 5,400 from the button. Both players called and the flop was {2-Spades}{6-Hearts}{q-Spades}.

Losev bet 2,600 on the flop and Giovannone raised to 8,000. Losev got away from it after a few moments in the tank and the cards were turned up.

Didier Pitcho: {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Luca Giovannone: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

Both players had ace-jack but Pitcho had flush opportunities that were dashed on the {10-Diamonds} turn. The {7-Hearts} on the river was inconsequential and both players split up Losev's chips while Giovannone took the small side pot.

Saxod Doubles Through Garcia Reverte

Level 3 : 100/300, 300 ante

With just 3,500 in the middle to the {6-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Spades} flop, the chips of Alexandre Saxod and Juan Antonio Garcia Reverte went into the middle of the table with the former at risk for 16,400.

Alexandre Saxod: {a-Spades}{2-Spades}
Juan Antonio Garcia Reverte: {7-Spades}{5-Spades}

"I can make a straight flush but you cannot," Garcia Reverte joked. He had no reason to laugh anymore on the {9-Spades} turn as Saxod improved to the nut flush and that left the Spaniard with one out.

The river was the {10-Hearts} and Saxod doubled.

New Notables in the Day 1a Field

Level 3 : 100/300, 300 ante

Schumacher Sent to the Rail

Level 3 : 100/300, 300 ante

The cards were already on their backs as Yannick Schumacher was the player at risk with the {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}. He was up against Josef Huber with the {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}, and the latter had turned two pair on {k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}. The river was a blank {7-Diamonds} and Huber just shrugged while Schumacher left the table without saying a single word or showing any emotion.

Fernandez Alonso Takes From Razavi

Level 3 : 100/300, 300 ante

Following a flop of {a-Spades}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, Javier Fernandez Alonso checked from the small blind and then called a bet worth 900 by Melika Razavi in the under-the-gun position. The {4-Diamonds} turn was checked by the Spaniard once more and Razavi fired another bet of 2,600 for Fernandez Alonso to call.

The {7-Diamonds} river was checked and Fernandez Alonso tabled the {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}, to which Razavi mucked.

"Oh wow, I am so lucky my flush didn't hit," Razavi said, indicating she would have stacked her opponent.

Lodge Books Back-to-Back Pots

Level 3 : 100/300, 300 ante

With around 10,000 in the pot and {8-Hearts}{3-Spades}{8-Spades} on the board, Harry Lodge bet 4,000 from the big blind and Shakhabiddin Muradov called from the button. The turn was {8-Diamonds}. Lodge continued for 7,500 and Muradov got away from it to give up the pot.

On the next hand, Muradov raised to 700 from the cutoff and George Damian called frmo the button. Lodge raised to 3,200 from the small blind and the big blind got out of the way before both remaining players called. The flop was {6-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{k-Spades} and Lodge continued for 4,000. Both players wasted no time folding their hands and Lodge picked up another pot to move above 60,000 in early Day 1a action.

Seiji Falls To Martini

Level 3 : 100/300, 300 ante

On a late reg table filled with EPT regulars, a preflop raising war got the chips of Rodrigo Seiji into the middle and Julien Martini was more than happy to snap call as he had the best of it.

Rodrigo Seiji: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Julien Martini: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

The board ran out {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{9-Spades}{7-Spades} to leave Seiji drawing dead on the turn and that spelled the end for the Brazilian, who can re-enter one more time on either Day 1a, 1b or prior to the start of Day 2.
