Koriagin Avoids Lijo's Trap

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

With around 28,000 already in the middle, Vadym Koriagin fired 12,000 from early position on the turn of a KQAJ board. Lander Lijo check-called from the big blind to see the J river, checking once more.

Koriagin did not take long to check behind, with Lijo turning over KK for a full house. Koriagin flashed 10x8x for a Broadway straight that was second best, avoiding Lijo's trap but seeing the pot slide to his right.

Shaw Sends Sadovskii Into the Tank

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

With around 18,000 already in the pot on a board of 9A53, Artem Sadovskii bet 12,500 from the small blind and Carl Shaw called on the button.

The river came the 6 and Sadovskii slowed down and checked. Shaw then fired out a bet of 19,900, sending Sadovskii deep into the tank.

Sadovskii thought about the decision for nearly five minutes until another player at the table called the clock. The tournament official placed the timer on the table for Sadovskii to see, and he allowed it to reach three seconds before tossing in a call.

Shaw then showed KJ for a flush and Sadovskii mucked as the EPT Barcelona finalist dragged in the big pot.

Hossein Ensan, 2015 EPT Prague champion and 2019 world champion, recently joined the field, as did Ren Lin.

Under the gun, Daniyar Aubakirov opened to 2,300, then Hakan Pamukcu three-bet all in for 4,800 in middle position. Joao Tomas called in the small blind, but Vlad Darie chose to shove for 12,000 in the big blind. Aubakirov folded, but Tomas called.

Hakan Pamukcu: AK
Joao Tomas: AJ
Vlad Darie: A10

On the flop J47, Tomas hit a pair to take the lead. Pamukcu stood up at this pot and was ready to leave. The K on the turn saved him and he tripled up on the river 3. Tomas won the side pot, but had only 13,000 after the hand.

Tomas Jozonis moved all in for 15,300 from the hijack and Parker Talbot called on the button.

Tomas Jozonis: A10
Parker Talbot: AA

Talbot had picked up aces to put Jozonis at significant risk of elimination as the flop came 97Q. The 10 fell on the turn to give Jozonis some outs with a pair.

"How about a ten on the river," Talbot said, standing up from his seat. The river was the 8 and Jozonis was eliminated as Talbot raked in another pot.

"I'm playing really well today," Talbot joked as he eclipsed 200,000.

Beresford Shows "Pretty Good Hand"

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Artem Sadovskii opened to 2,200 from under the gun and Gabriel Akiki called in middle position. Conor Beresford then three-bet to 10,500 from the small blind, producing a fold from Sadovskii and a call from Akiki.

Beresford led out for 5,000 on the A106 flop, with Akiki calling to the 3 turn. Both players checked to see the 5 river, where Beresford checked once more.

Akiki answered with one last check of his own before Beresford proclaimed "I've got a pretty good hand" as he turned over AA for a flopped set of aces. Akiki mucked and later told the table that he folded queens.

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Peng Yang and Toby Joyce went heads-up to the river on a board of 2810106 when Joyce bet 7,500 from middle position.

Yang then moved all in, sending Joyce deep into the tank as he considered the decision for his remaining 40,000. He spent several minutes staring down Yang until another player at the table called the clock.

Joyce allowed the timer to reach zero and his hand was declared dead and mucked. Yang then showed him AK for just ace-high as he took the pot.
