Garagnani and Beresford Come from Behind to Stay Alive

Level 11 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Pedro Garagnani
Pedro Garagnani

Stoyan Obreshkov opened to 10,000 from under the gun and Pedro Garagnani shoved all in for 96,500 in the small blind. Obreshkov quickly called and had his opponent in trouble.

Pedro Garagnani: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Stoyan Obreshkov: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}

Despite being dominated, Garagnani spiked an ace on the {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}{10-Hearts} flop. The {6-Spades} and {8-Diamonds} runout secured the double-up for Garagnani.

Next door, Conor Beresford and Ren Lin also got all of their chips in the middle preflop with Beresford being at risk for 88,000. Beresford tabled {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} but saw the bad news when Lin held {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}.

However, the flop of {9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts} vaulted Beresford to the lead and held on through the {2-Spades}, {4-Diamonds} runout.

Auzoux Eliminated by Hrabec

Level 11 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Down to around 45,000 in chips, Gregoire Auzoux was all-in with the {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and found himself up against Roman Hrabec with the {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}.

The {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop left Auzoux on the ropes and he joked "diamonds, maybe?" with a dry smile on the face. He was drawing dead on the {7-Clubs} turn and that made the {3-Diamonds} river a formality.

Adams Runs Into Marques' Kings

Level 11 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Timothy Adams
Timothy Adams

Andre Marques raised to 11,000 in middle position and Timothy Adams called on the button. They went heads-up to a flop of {10-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Marques checked. Adams bet 9,000 and Marques check-raised to 25,000. Adams used one of his time banks before shoving all in for 92,000. Marques snapped him off and the cards were on their backs.

Timothy Adams: {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Andre Marques: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

Adams flopped top pair but it was no match for the pocket kings of Marques. The {5-Clubs} and {4-Diamonds} runout were no help to Adams who was eliminated just moments after registration closed.

Wakil Loads Up the Triple Barrel

Level 11 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Jamil Wakil came into the day as one of the short stacks but is slowly making his way up the leaderboard in the opening levels. Wakil raised to 8,000 in middle position and Alexandre Reard called from the big blind.

The flop came {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}{4-Hearts} and Reard check-called a bet of 6,000 from Wakil. The {a-Spades} paired the board on the turn and Reard check-called another bet of 16,500 from Wakil.

The {8-Diamonds} completed the board and Reard checked for the third time. Wakil dropped in a bet of 36,000, nearly his entire stack and Reard was forced to finally lay his hand down.

Auzoux Bad Beats Lijo

Level 10 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Lander Lijo
Lander Lijo

In a preflop contest, Lander Lijo had the best of it with {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} as he was up against Gregoire Auzoux with the {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

The kicker issue wasn't solved yet on the {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop but Auzoux improved on the {10-Diamonds} turn, leaving his opponent with just three outs. Nothing changed with the {a-Clubs} river and that spelled the end for the Spaniard.

Moraes Among Early Casualties on Day 2

Level 10 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Rafael Da Silva Moraes
Rafael Da Silva Moraes

PokerStars ambassador Rafael Moraes was also among those to enter in the first hour of play but barely lasted half an hour. He got it in preflop with the {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} against Julien Sitbon, who held the dominating {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}.

The kicker played on the {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{4-Spades}{6-Clubs} runout and that spelled the end for Moraes.

However, Sitbon then lost a bigger pot to Kayhan Mokri who further increased his decent stack towards the end of the late registration period.

"Good Turn" for Nesterov

Level 10 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Zhi Ning raised to 8,500 from under the gun and was called by Neymar and Jakov Nesterov on his left. They went three ways to a flop of {j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and Ning started with a check. Neymar fired out a bet of 13,000 which Nesterov called and Ning got out of the way.

The {9-Clubs} landed on the turn and Neymar slowed down with a check this time. Nesterov flicked in a bet of 10,000 and Neymar stuck around to see the {5-Diamonds} on the river.

Both players quickly tapped the table this time and Nesterov flipped over {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for a flush. "Good turn," Nesterov pointed out as he collected the pot.
