€10,300 EPT Paris High Roller

Day 1 Started

Welcome to Day 1 of the €10,300 EPT Paris High Roller

Trophy
Trophy

It's time for the €10,300 High Roller held as part of the PokerStars European Poker Tour Paris. Day 1 of the event is set to kick off today at 12:30 p.m. local time at the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile.

The event will run for three days and players will have just a single reentry to stamp their mark on the tournament. Registration is open until the end of Day 1.

Players will start with 50,000 chips and blinds start at 100/200 with a 200 big blind ante. This means starting stacks at the first blind level will be 250 big blinds deep. Day 1 will play for ten 60-minute levels with a 20 minute break every two levels and 75 minute break at the end of level six.

Kannapong Thanarattrakul won the last €10,300 EPT High Roller event, which was held as part of EPT Prague. He outlasted a field of 274 entries to take home a prize of €543,750.

As is expected in an event of this calibre, plenty of familiar faces are already registered for the event, including Masato Yokosawa, Byron Kaverman, who recently came fourth in the PCA Super High Roller for over $1 million, and Dominik Nitsche, who's list of poker accomplishments is extensive.

Also registered for the event are a few players who are returning off the back of recent EPT results. Dragos Trofimov came third in the EPT Monte Carlo Main Event in 2022 and will be looking for another final table score. Julien Sitbon bagged a first place finish in a freezeout event in Monte Carlo the same year. And Antoine Labat finished just shy of the final table of the €10,300 EPT Barcelona High Roller last year.

Of course, many more players will register before the event and over the course of Day 1.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for live updates direct from the tournament floor.

Early Cooler in Favor of Panagiotidis

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Vasileios Panagiotidis and Orpen Kisacikoglu were in a blind versus blind battle and got to the river with the board reading {9-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{a-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}.

Panagiotidis bet 15,000 on the river and Kisacikoglu reluctantly called before Panagiotidis showed {9-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{a-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} for a flush.

"Two pair?" Iliodoros Kamatakis asked Kisacikoglu, who shook his head. "Better? A straight?"

Kisacikoglu nodded and showed {q-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for a flopped straight before tossing his cards in the muck.

Byron Kaverman

Players are still taking rolling in and taking their seats in the High Roller, tables filling up as the first few hands are dealt.

Dragos Trofimov raised button to 500 chips. Markkos Ladev called in the small blind and Byron Kaverman called in the big blind. The flop came {6-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{8-Spades}. Action checked to Trofimov, who made it 400 to go. All other players folded.

The next hand, Trofimov raised again from the hijack and was called by Kaverman in the small blind. The flop came {6-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{8-Spades}. Kaverman checked and Trofimov bet 400, which Kaverman called. The turn came {2-Hearts} and both players checked. On the {q-Diamonds} river, Kaverman led out for 1,000 and Trofimov folded.

Next, Markkos Ladev raised button and Kaverman three bet to 1,700. Ladev folded and Kaverman took the pot.

Big Slick Good for Lopes

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

In a three-way pot on a flop of {9-Clubs}{8-Spades}{k-Clubs}, Kalidou Sow led out for 1,600 from the small blind and Askar Bekbayev called from the hijack before Bruno Lopes raised to 4,900 from the cutoff. Sow folded and Bekbayev called.

Bekbayev checked on the {4-Diamonds} turn and Lopes checked back. Bekbayev then led out for 5,000 on the {3-Spades} river and Lopes quickly called.

Bekbayev showed {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a missed flush draw and Lopes tabled {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds} to win the pot with top pair.
