Get Ready For Day 1b of the €5,300 Main Event

Another exciting day begins at the PokerStars European Poker Tour Barcelona, held at Casino Barcelona, as we kick off Day 1b, for the final flight of the €5,300 Main Event.

Yesterday’s opening flight drew 697 players, with 223 of them making it through to Day 2. Joost Hollak from the Netherlands ended the day on top, amassing a huge 364,500 chips. Ram Sanati and Yevhenii Kuzmin were the only other players to finish with stacks exceeding 300,000.

Cards will be in the air at noon local time with 60-minute levels starting at 100/100 and a 100 big blind ante. Players will begin with a starting stack of 30,000 chips and aim to build it over ten levels played today. A 20-minute break is scheduled after every two levels and a 75-minute dinner break at the end of level 6.

Players have a total of two entries which they can use across either of the opening flights or buy in until the start of Day 2 on September 3.

The action checked to Cutter on the 7A10 flop and he fired a bet of 500. Only Wiciak called.

Wiciak check-folded to a bet of 1,200 from Cutter on the 5 turn.

McKola Starts Strong

Adam McKola had just scooped a pot, then a couple of hands later raised from late position. The small blind called and Julien Rouquet called in the big blind.

The flop came K56 and action checked to McKola, who continued for 600. The small blind folded and Rouquet called. The turn was the 5 and Rouquet checked again. McKola bet again for 1,400 and Rouquet folded to concede the pot.

McKola chipped up to a little under 40,000, a solid start in the first couple of levels of play.

Djorno Drags 250-Big Blind Pot

With 6,400 in the middle, the flop read 554, and Takahiro Tsugu led for 4,000 from the small blind. Josep De Ramon was under the gun and made the call before Dan Djorno put in a raise to 9,400 from the button. Tsugu took about 30 seconds before mucking his hand, and De Ramon made the call.

The K turn was checked through to see the A on the river and De Ramon checked it over to Djorno who fired 12,000. After a few seconds, De Ramon made the call.

Djorno rolled A5 for a full house, and that was good as De Ramon mucked his hand.

Ramella Slow Plays Aces to Bust Yin

Jorge Ramella opened to 800 from middle position and Shibo Yin three-bet to 2,500 from the hijack. Ramella called.

Ramella checked the Q49 flop and Yin bet 2,000. Ramella chose to check-raise to 5,300 which Yin called.

Upon seeing the Q appear on the turn, Ramella shoved for Yin's remaining 10,700. Yin went deep into the tank, thinking for almost two minutes. Ultimately, he flicked in the call and the cards were revealed.

Ramella was ahead with his pocket aces and had to avoid a two-outer on the river. The 5 fell and Yin was sent to the rail at the hands of Ramella.

The flop ran out J510 and Aissaoui continued for 2,500, which Mendes called. The turn was the A and Aissaoui switched to a check. Mendes picked up the betting, putting 6,500 in the middle and Aissaoui called.

The river came the J and Aissaoui led out for 10,000. Mendes called and Aissaoui showed AA for a full house, aces full of jacks. Mendes mucked and Aissaoui scooped up a significant pot.

The 8 completed the board on the river and Navarro didn't slow down, jamming for 16,900. Beirigo went into the tank for about a minute before mucking.

Angel Insua raised to 1,200 from early position and got a call from Jordan Cutter in the hijack before Simon Wiciak three-bet 4,000 on the button. Insua and Cutter both called.

The three players saw a flop of 5K4 which was checked to Wiciak, who then bet 1,500. Insua called and despite the cheap price, Cutter folded.

An A fell on the turn which saw Insua check-call a bet of 3,000 from Wiciak.

When the J landed on the river, Insua checked for a third time in the hand, and Wiciak shoved for 8,300. Insua thought for a few moments before he made the call.

Wiciak showed AJ for a rivered two pair, and Insua showed AQ for a pair of aces.
