Only 16 Remain on Day 6 of the EPT Barcelona €5,300 Main Event

David Coleman

The prestigious grind of the €5,300 EPT Main Event, running as part of the 2024 PokerStars European Poker Tour Barcelona, continues today with Day 6 of this seven-day event. At noon local time, the remaining 16 competitors will return to Casino Barcelona to make a play for their share of the €9,578,750 prize pool, all vying for the Gold PokerStars shard and the first-place prize of €1,512,000.

As the dust settled last night, Rania Nasreddine easily took pole position in the counts, having amassed a stack of 7,200,000 by the end of proceedings. Nasreddine most notably finished third in the EPT Monte Carlo Main Event just five months ago, making this tournament run a compelling campaign for back-to-back final tables.

However, Nasreddine’s path to the top is not yet clear of obstacles with the likes of Fabiano Kovalski and David Coleman still commanding healthy stacks of 5,550,000 and 3,570,000, respectively.

Coleman’s reputation speaks for itself, and this deep run is yet another opportunity for him to claim an additional major title in his already fruitful career as a professional. In addition, Kovalski finished fourth in the 2022 EPT Barcelona Main Event for €565,280 and will be sure to put up a fight in hopes of exceeding his own personal best set two years ago.

Stephen Song raised to 300,000 in the small blind with AK and was three-bet by Boris Kuzmanovic with AK to 880,000 from the big blind.

Song then moved in for 7,700,000 and Kuzmanovic called, slightly covering him.

For an over 15,000,000 chip pot, the flop came 1074 giving Song a flush draw.

The turn Q was clean as was the 8 river, as Kuzmanovic avoided disaster for the chopped pot.

The flop came Q86 and Song checked. Coleman checked back with his top pair, top kicker.

On the 10 turn, Song had an open-ender and bet 375,000. Coleman called to see the 4 hit the river.

Jose Barbosa Eliminated in 14th Place (€74,600)

Level 29 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Jose Barbosa

Jose Barbosa moved all in for 635,000 from under the gun. Andrew Hulme then min-clicked it from the small blind, which folded out Daniel Myers in the big blind.

Barbosa had live cards, but the A77 flop was all Hulme, who made two pair. Barbosa needed to go runner-runner and found the Q on the turn to keep his hopes alive. The J river provided no help to the at-risk player, and Hulme sent Barbosa out in 14th place.

Myers Takes a Massive Hit

Level 29 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Daniel Myers
Daniel Myers

Hand One:

Alexandre Fournier raised to 200,000 from under the gun, Harry Lodge three-bet to 500,000 from the hijack and Daniel Myers cold four-bet jammed for 2,620,000, from the small blind. Fournier called off the bet for his last 2,600,000 and Lodge folded.

Daniel Myers: AQ

The 6K10 flop gave Fournier top set, but Myers gained a straight draw. The 9 turn and 7 river were clean for Fournier and he found a huge double up, leaving Myers with just 20,000.

Hand Two:

Two hands later, Myers moved all in for 20,000 from the cutoff. Jianwei Lin raised to 225,000 on the button and Lodge called in the big blind.

The J106 flop checked through to the K on the turn. Lodge checked and then folded to a bet of 300,000 from Lin.

Jianwei Lin: A2

The river landed the 9; despite this being a chopped pot, Myers more than tripled up.

Daniel Myers Eliminated in 13th Place (€89,550)

Level 29 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Daniel Myers
Daniel Myers

After taking his 20,000 to 90,000, Daniel Myers put in his one big blind stack from early position. Harry Lodge called from the small blind and Marius-Catalin Pertea checked his option in the big blind.

Myers appeared very relaxed after the J83 flop, chatting to Mitch Hynam and Carl Shaw on the rail. The blinds checked, and did the same on the 7 turn and 2 river.

"The toppest of pairs," said Myers, as he tabled QJ. Lodge sent his K5 into the muck and Pertea did the same with his Q9.

The following hand, Myers wagered his stack of 370,000. The action folded to Andrew Hulme in the big blind, and he called to put the Liverpudlian at risk.

Myers was looking to pull off "the greatest comeback in PokerStars history," and it appeared he would be on his way to do that after the K52 flop and 6 turn. However, the Q completed the board and gave Hulme a pair of queens to seal the checkmark and elimination.
