Pots for Guinand, Mokhtar and Tuil

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Manuel Roca opened to 1,700 from middle position before Sebastien Guinand three-bet to 5,500 from the hijack. Roca called.

Roca check-called for 4,500 on the AJ9 flop and then check-folded to a bet of 17,000 on the 7 turn.

As that hand finished, a sizeable pot was brewing on the table behind.

With around 28,000 in the middle on the K3AK8 board, Teddy Tuil bet 3,500 from the small blind. Rayan Mokhtar raised to 18,000 from the big blind which sent Henok Tekle Mariam into the tank. Mariam eventually found the fold and Tuil also released his cards.

The following hand, Tuil opened to 2,000 from the button and called when Mohamed Aissani moved all in for 7,200 from the big blind.

Mohamed Aissani: K9
Teddy Tuil: KQ

Tuil's superior king remained best and Aissani was eliminated after the 104382 runout.

Niederreiter Gets Lucky to Double-Up

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Fabian Niederreiter raised to 2,100 from the hijack and Michel Dattani three-bet to 5,300 from the cutoff. The action folded back to Niederreiter, who jammed all in for 45,100.

Dattani immediately slammed in a call with the covering stack and a showdown was ordered.

Fabian Niederreiter: 1010
Michel Dattani: JJ

"That's not good," Niederreiter concluded. However, the 8710 flop saw him take the lead with top set. He faded Dattani's outs on the subsequent 26 runout and doubled up to nearly six figures.

Mifsud Knocks Out Custodio

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

In a preflop all-in contest, Brandon Mifsud and Daniel Custodio got their chips into the middle with near even stack sizes.

Daniel Custodio: 88
Brandon Mifsud: 99

The superior pair hit a set on the KQ9 flop and Mifsud locked up the pot with the 5 turn to make the 2 river a formality. Both stacks were counted and the 25,300 of Custodio were covered.

Joao Sydenstricker: A9

Kohn Dehli Double Leaves Atmani on Fumes

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

With 17,500 in the middle to the Q1079 turn, Sabare Atmani pushed all-in for 21,000 in the big blind. Nicklas Krohn Dehli called in the cutoff and the cards were flipped over.

Nicklas Krohn Dehli: KJ
Sabare Atmani: 109

Atmani had plenty of outs with his two pair and flush draw, yet the K river was not among them. Krohn Dehli doubled for 18,900 to leave Atmani on two blinds, also somewhat flabbergasted after the showdown.

Jorgne Doubles Through Boika

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Peter Jorgne
Peter Jorgne

Aliaksei Boika raised and Peter Jorgne in the small blind three-bet to 7,500. The initial raiser in the hijack four-bet to 20,000 and then called the shove by Jorgne for around two times of that.

Peter Jorgne: AA
Aliaksei Boika: AK

The aces had little to fear on the 973 flop and the 10 turn locked up the double to make the Q river a formality. Last year's runner-up Jorge doubled for 42,200 to surpass 2016 EPT Malta Main Event champion Boika on the leaderboard.

Kolev Beats Same Hand to Increase Large Stack

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Shakhabiddin Muradov raised to 2,000 under the gun before Boris Kolev three-bet to 6,000 from middle position. Rafael Navas Robles then called cold from the cutoff and Imad Derwiche jammed all in for 35,000 on the button.

Muradov quickly folded, after which Kolev stuck in a call. Navas Robles got out of the way as well and the two players showed down.

Boris Kolev: AK
Imad Derwiche: AK

Both played Big Slick, but the 257 flop gave Kolev a flush draw. The 6 turn bricked out, but the J river gave Kolev his flush and eliminated Derwiche from the Main Event on his second and final bullet.

Kolev, meanwhile, crossed the 200,000-chip mark by winning this pot and became one of the biggest stacks in the room.
