Baumann Loses Small Pot to Big Hand

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Gaelle Baumann had opened from middle position and Andrei Konopelko had defended the big blind, creating a pot of 6,000 chips.

Konopelko then check-called Baumann's 4,800-chip bet on the 946 flop before both players checked the A turn.

The 3 river was also knuckled by both players, and Andrei Konopelko showed AK for top pair, much to the surprise of Baumann.

She took a few more looks at her cards before throwing them to the muck, awarding the pot to Konopelko.

Flip Turns Into Quads for Smith

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Elliot Smith in middle position got his stack of 35,000 in the middle against Evgenii Fidchuk on the button.

Elliot Smith: 99
Evgenii Fidchuk: AK

Fidchuk sprung ahead when he flopped trips on QAA, but the A turn locked up the pot for him as he made four of a kind. The 9 river put some salt in the wound of Fidchuk, who quickly headed to the exit.

Troyanovskiy Hero-Calls At the Wrong Time

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Vladimir Troyanovskiy

With the turn showing 7526, Antoine Camors bet 11,500 out of the small blind and Vladimir Troyanovskiy called in the big blind. Carmors then jammed the J on the river and Troyanovskiy went into a brief tank.

With around 27,000 behind, Troyanovskiy opted to call all-in and Camors exposed his 55 for a set of fives. Troyanovskiy flashed his 82 for the bottom pair and exited the tournament area without word.

There was some utter confusion by the other players at the table before Gediminas Uselis explained that there had been an open-raise and a call by Camors in the small blind. Troyanovskiy squeezed in the big blind, then checked back the flop before calling the turn and river.

Yea Triples Up

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Steve Yea had gone all in preflop from the small blind for 22,500 and was looked up by both Fouad Rabahie in the big blind and Samantha Abernathy under the gun, who also created a 25,000 side pot in the process.

Rabahie then shoved when the QJ7 flop fell, forcing Abernathy to save the 60,000 chips she had behind and create a heads up showdown.

Steve Yea: KK
Fouad Rabahie: AQ

Yea's kings held on the subsequent 810 runout and he secured a big triple-up. Rebahie, meanwhile, shipped the side pot to minimize his losses and stayed above the 100,000 mark.

No Fun for Funaro

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

The pot had grown to a size of 10,000 chips when Mehdi Rebai jammed his final 7,000 in the middle from the big blind on a completed board of 922J9.

The action was on Frank Funaro in the hijack, and he thought it over for a bit before flicking in the call.

Rebai opened Q9 for a full house, outmatching the A5 of Funaro, who called with ace-high.

Double for Speranza

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Action was caught on the river, with 42,000 in the pot on the A6102A completed board.

Gianluca Speranza checked from the small blind before Mustafa Simsek bet 22,500 from the hijack. Speranza then moved all in for 45,000 and Simsek immediately grimaced. He thought over his options for quite some time before putting in the call.

Speranza tabled AQ and took in the pot as he bested Simsek's JJ.
