Gherghe Eliminates Vican in the First Hand

The first hand of the main event at Table 34 escalated quickly. With approximately 5,000 already in the middle, the action picked up on a flop of 3♠J♠8♠.

Michael Sklenicka led out with a bet of 2,100, and Ivan Vican made the call. Razvan Gherghe then raised to 7,200 and got a call from Sklenicka. When the action returned to Vican, he announced all in for 25,000.

Gherghe tanked for a while but eventually moved all in over the top, leaving Sklenicka with a tough decision. After deliberating, Sklenicka folded, saying he had 9♠10♠.

Vican needed to dodge the board pairing to survive. The 6♦ on the turn kept him alive, but the river 8♥ gave Gherghe a full house, eliminating Vican.

Ayman Jarrar raised to 300 from the hijack, Javier Dominguez-Gomez three-bet to 1,200 from the small blind and Jarrar called.

The flop ran out 10♣J♠6♠ and Dominguez-Gomez made a continuation bet of 2,000, which Jarrar called. Both players opted to check back on the Q♠ turn.

The river was the 2♥ and Dominguez-Gomez bet 6,000. Jarrar folded and Dominguez-Gomez scooped the pot.

Somma Takes Most of Kubota's Stack on River

Action was on the river on a board of 8♣J♦7♠5♥Q♣ and Gianluca Somma had checked from out of position. Yasuhiro Kubota bet 5,500 and Somma responded with a check-raise to 17,500.

Kubota went deep into the tank and eventually flicked in a chip to signify the call. Somma turned over 10♥9♠ for the straight. Kubota tapped the table as he handed over the majority of his stack to Somma.

Vos Flops a Straight Against McConachie

There were 2,000 chips in the middle on a flop of 9♦J♠7♣ when David McConachie checked from early position and Pascal Vos fired 1,000 from the next seat over. McConachie called.

A 5♠ dropped on the turn and again McConachie checked, then he was faced with a bet of 3,000 from Vos. After a short time, McConachie called.

When the J♥ completed the board on the river, McConachie checked for a third time, then Vos announced a bet of 9,000 and threw in the chips. McConachie took longer to think about this than he had on previous streets, but still came to the same conclusion as he had done before and called.

Vos then showed he flopped a straight with 10♠8♠, and McConachie held his cards up in front of him, snapped a picture of them with the board, then said "Ten-eight, yeah?", before he mucked.

John Kitchen opened to 200 from the cutoff and faced a three-bet to 700 from Lamberto Beck in the small blind. Kitchen made the call, and they went heads-up to a flop of 5♣9♥2♥.

Beck continued for 500, and Kitchen quickly called.

The turn brought the 10♦, and Beck fired a second barrel of 1,500 which was enough to force Kitchen out of the hand and Beck claimed the pot without a showdown.

A full board of 6♦A♠7♥6♥10♥ was showing with around 15,000 chips in the middle when Maor Zaharagi bet 5,000 from the small blind. Javier Tazon was in the hijack and after a while thinking, he moved all-in for around 19,000.

It was then Zaharagi's turn to go into the tank and he needed a few minutes to mull things over, before he finally elected to fold.

"Eight-nine of hearts?" asked one of the table to Tazon, who shook his head in disagreement.

All three players checked it back on the 4♥3♠5♥ flop. The turn came the 6♥ and Giuliano bet 1,200. Both of his opponents folded and he won the pot.

The turn brought the 10♠, prompting both players to check. The river 10♥ saw no further action as they checked again.

Jarrar revealed A♥Q♠ for two pair, but it was no match for Saeed's A♠K♠ but he was happy to have lost the minimum in this cooler.

The river was the 4♠ and Adam checked again. Wilson checked it back to go to showdown and Adam showed 8♠6♠ for the winning hand, trip eights.

"No bluff? Why?", asked Adam as he scooped in the pot.

Stanciu’s Aggression Forces a Fold

Traian-Costin Stanciu opened the action from early position with a raise to 300, drawing calls from both blinds.

The flop came K♥6♠J♥, and after both blinds checked, Stanciu continued for 400. Only Cedric Schwaederle in the small blind called to proceed to the turn.

The 2♣ turn saw another check from Schwaederle, giving Stanciu the chance to ramp up the pressure with a bet of 1,500. After some thought, Schwaederle made the call.

The 6♦ river prompted one final check from Schwaederle. Stanciu paused briefly before firing a third barrel, this time for 4,100. Schwaederle went deep into the tank, taking nearly three minutes to deliberate, but ultimately let his hand go, conceding the pot to Stanciu's unrelenting aggression.
