Danut Chisu raised to 24,000 from early position with Carmelo Donato calling from the small blind. Pawel Wojciechowski squeezed to 94,000 from the big blind, which only Chisu called.
The 7♠J♠6♥ flop saw Wojciechowski put out a continuation-bet of 80,000, which Chisu called.
Wojciechowski bet again on the 8♥ turn, this time for 225,000. Chisu called again.
The 9♠ came on the river and Wojciechowski shoved for 779,000. Chisu went deep into the tank, burning through three of his time bank cards. Eventually, he settled on a fold and the pot was pushed to Wojciechowski.
The action folded around to Paul Runcan in the small blind, who shoved to put Luka Bojovic to the test in the big blind. Bojovic only had around 60,000 in his stack and put himself at risk after he took a peek at his cards.
Paul Runcan: J♥3♥
Luka Bojovic: Q♠10♥
Bojovic needed to double up to survive as he was one of the shortest stacks in the tournament, but fell behind on the J♣7♣4♥ flop as Runcan paired his jack. A 6♣ on the turn didn't offer Bojovic any more help, and the K♠ river meant he was eliminated in the final level of Day 3.
In the first hand after the dinner break, Brandon Sheils opened the action to 25,000 from under the gun and faced a three-bet to 75,000 from Gal Bar. Action folded to Alexis Andre in the big blind, who moved all in for 202,000. Sheils called, and Bar folded.
Alexis Andre: A♠Q♠
Brandon Sheils: A♣A♥
Andre found himself in a tough spot right after the break, but the 9♠4♠9♣ flop gave him plenty of outs. One of those outs appeared on the turn as the 6♠ completed his nut flush. The 10♣ on the river was no help to Sheils, and Andre doubled up to keep his tournament hopes alive.
Life Outside Poker is a new podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.
In the 21st episode, Connor speaks with Survivor legend Boston Rob, aka Rob Mariano, about growing up near Fenway Park, learning poker at the age of 6, studying psychology at Boston University, applying for Survivor and winning Season 22, his recent appearance on Deal or No Deal Island and filming an upcoming season of The Traitors.
Boston Rob also revealed a story about Costa Rican authorities raiding a mansion known to host high-stakes poker games during a 2006 filming that included Daniel Negreanu, Josh Arieh, David Williams, Michael Mizrachi and actress Cheryl Hines.
"(Gambling mogul) Calvin (Ayre) had a big party at the house, and they came in guns drawn," he said. "And we were fine, but we all had to stay at the party until they checked our passports and everything. I think it was a little bit of a shakedown. But we had a good weekend."
In the 868th episode of the PokerNews Podcast, sponsored by the free-to-play WSOP App, Chad Holloway, Kyna England, and Mike Holtz are at Level 9 Studio to discuss the bitter social media feud between Vanessa Kade and Ryan Depaulo, which started over a sponsorship for Benjamin "Bencb" Rolle and saw the likes of Charlie Carrel and Kevin Martin chime in.
You'll also get to check out the recent ClubWPT Gold $5M Freeroll Invitational winners, which includes Kyna, and how the reigning WPT World Champ Dan Sepiol won $1 million in a daily fantasy football contest on Thanksgiving. Some other recent big winners were Faraz Jaka down at the Rock 'n' Roll Poker Open and David Prociak at the Venetian DeepStack Showdown Series.
Finally, the year is quickly coming to an end, so the crew thought it was a good time to look at the PokerGO Tour leaderboard and see who is qualified for the $1,000,000 PGT Championship and who is on the bubble.
A new PokerNews Podcast will drop weekly every Friday at 8a PT / 11a ET / 4p UK time. Remember to subscribe to our YouTube channel so you do not miss an episode!
Thomas de Rooij opened the action from early position to 20,000, and Hang Xu moved all in from the cutoff. Action folded to Mariusz Golinski in the small blind, who also moved all in. De Rooij folded.
Hang Xu: A♥Qx
Mariusz Golinski: A♠A♦
Xu was in a tough spot but found a glimmer of hope when the J♥2♦K♦ flop gave him a gutshot straight draw. Unfortunately for Xu, the 7♠ turn and 3♥ river brought no help, and he was eliminated from the tournament.
