Ponakovs' Jacks Good at Showdown Against Mokri

Kayhan Mokri raised to 35,000 from under the gun and Aleksejs Ponakovs called from the small blind. Espen Jorstad was in the big blind and bumped it up to 140,000, which both Mokri and Ponakovs called.

The trio saw a flop of 8♠9♣9♥, where Ponakovs led out for 45,000. Both Jorstad and Mokri dropped in calling chips to see the 7♠ turn, where Ponakovs again fired, this time for 60,000. Jorstad had seen enough and elected to fold, but Mokri stuck around with a call.

A 7♣ double-paired the board and Ponakovs burned through two time banks before he checked, and Mokri knuckled back.

Ponakovs tabled a pair of jacks with J♦J♣, and that was good for the pot as Mokri mucked.
