Day 1 of the highly anticipated €100,000 EPT Super High Roller during the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona has wrapped up at Casino Barcelona, with 36 entries recorded so far and 22 players making it through to Day 2.

Leading the way is Punnat Punsri of Thailand, who bagged 943,000 after getting off to a dream start. He slow-played pocket aces against Jesse Lonis, calling a four-bet preflop before holding against Lonis’ nut flush draw to score a full double. This pot helped Punsri rise to the top of the chip counts by the end of play, and he has put himself in a great position to try to claim a second title here at EPT Barcelona.

Second in the counts is Seth Davies, who bagged 890,000 after winning the biggest pot during the last level of the day against David Coleman. Davies four-bet jammed with big slick, and Coleman called with pocket queens. Davies looked to be heading to the rail, but an ace on the river saved Davies and locked up his spot near the top of the counts. Teun Mulder maneuvered his way to bagging up a stack of 829,000 and rounds out the podium positions.

With this being the biggest buy-in of the series, it’s no surprise the field was packed with familiar names. Among those making it through the day is Kayhan Mokri (608,000), who is the back-to-back champion of this event the last two times it was held. Also returning for Day 2 are Phil Ivey (407,000), Nick Petrangelo (260,000), Jason Koon (241,000), Espen Jorstad (169,000), and Jesse Lonis (134,000). Bringing up the rear is Enrico Camosci (72,000), who will have plenty of work to do when play resumes.

Seth Davies made it 12,000 from middle position before David Coleman three-bet to 36,000 from the hijack. When it got back to Davies, he jammed for 404,000, and Coleman made the call to make the biggest pot of the day.

Seth Davies: AK All in
David Coleman: QQ

Coleman had Davies slightly covered and the two players were flipping for over 800,000.

Coleman gained a significant advantage on the 732 flop, as Davies didn't improve. The 5 came on the turn to give Davies a straight draw, and the A appeared on the river to give him top pair. Davies won the pot of over 800,000, while Coleman was left with just over ten big blinds.

Mokri Bets Out Camosci

Level 8 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

From under the gun, Enrico Camosci raised to 10,000 and only Kayhan Mokri called from the big blind.

Mokri started with a check on the 799 flop, and Camosci tossed out a bet of 7,000. Mokri check-raised to 24,000, and Camosci continued in the form of a call.

The 6 rolled off on the turn, and Camosci folded after Mokri decided to bet.

Phil Ivey opened from middle position and Nick Petrangelo called in the big blind.

The flop came 926 and Petrangelo checked it over to Ivey, who bet 11,000. Petrangelo then made it 33,000. Ivey threw in a bunch of green chips, worth 25,000 each, and Petrangelo called off his stack of 109,000.

Nick Petrangelo: 62 All in
Phil Ivey: A9

Petrangelo had flopped bottom two pair and needed to fade aces and nines to double up. A 4 on the turn added a few more outs for Ivey, but the 6 on the river gave Petrangelo a full house and the double-up.

Ivey Puts Lee to the Test

Level 8 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Heads up on a flop of 34J, Wai Kiat Lee checked from the big blind, and Phil Ivey bet ~12,000 from the cutoff. Lee decided he wanted to play for more and check-raised to 28,000. Ivey called.

After Lee checked the 10 turn, Ivey asked to see his stack, which amounted to 129,000. Ivey bet enough to cover Lee, resulting in an immediate fold by Lee.
