On the last hand of the night at this table, Thomas Eychenne bet 15,000 from early position on a flop of 10♣8♦3♦, Chin Wei Lim moved all in for 105,000 in the big blind, and Eychenne called.
Chin Wei Lim: Q♦2♦
Thomas Eychenne: Q♥10♥
Eychenne was ahead with top pair, while Lim was on a flush draw. The Q♣ turn improved Eychenne to two pair, while the river was the 5♥ and Lim was sent to the rail.
Artus Gimenez min-raised to 20,000 from the hijack and Nicolas Tytgat jammed for 270,000 from the cutoff. Gimenez called to try to send Tytgat to the rail earlier than he had planned.
Nicolas Tytgat: A♦J♥
Artus Gimenez: Q♣Q♦
Tytgat was behind to the ladies of Gimenez and was unable to improve enough on the 10♣J♦8♠K♠10♦ runout to win the pot. Tytgat exited the tournament and Gimenez was up to over a million.
Karl Karlsson opened to 20,000 from the button and faced Alexandr Kilennikov who defended from the big blind.
Both of them quickly checked the 10♣J♣Q♣ flop and the 5♣ turn, but Kilennikov led out for 20,000 on the Q♦ river. Karlsson raised to 80,000, Kilennikov reraised all in for 135,000, and Karlsson snap-called.
Alexandr Kilennikov: A♣8♦
Karl Karlsson: Q♥J♥
Both players were trapping each other, but Karlsson had the last word by hitting a full house on the river to eliminate Kilennikov.
Heads-up on a flop of K♦3♦J♣, Thomas Eychenne bet 15,000 from the hijack and Fabiano Kovalski called in the big blind.
The turn was the J♦ and Kovalski led out for 18,000. Eychenne called and the Q♠ fell on the river. Kovalski then bet 20,000, and Eychenne used two time banks before announcing all in.
Kovalski had around 250,000 remaining and tanked for a minute before folding. Eychenne allowed him to pick one of his cards, and Kovalski chose the Q♣.
At the same time at another table, Alejandro Romero had opened to 20,000 under the gun and Lirong Hu Yu called in the hijack. Steve O'Dwyer then reraised to 190,000 in the cutoff, leaving only a few chips behind, and Romero shoved all in. Yu folded, but O'Dwyer quickly put in the rest of his stack.
Steve O'Dwyer: 9♠9♥
Alejandro Romero: Q♣Q♥
Yu told O'Dwyer what he folded as the flop came A♠K♦10♣. "Why would you tell me that?" O'Dwyer said incredulously.
"You're never supposed to say," Romero added. The turn was the A♥, while the 3♦ river was no help to O'Dwyer as the EPT champion was sent to the rail, but not before shooting Yu another annoyed look.
Chau Shing Lam moved all in from the small blind and Anton Kraous called in the hijack, the two players having nearly identical stacks.
Anton Kraous: A♦10♦
Chau Shing Lam: A♠8♣
Both players hit a pair on the 10♠8♥7♥ flop, but Kraous remained in the lead with his tens. The turn, though, was the 8♦ to give Lam trips. Kraous failed to improve on the 5♥ river and Lam secured the pot.
The stacks were counted down and Lam had 179,000, while Kraous had 173,000 and was barely covered as the Day 1b chip leader was sent to the rail.
Anton Suarez raised to 20,000 from middle position and Gediminas Uselis jammed for 110,000 from the hijack. Suarez called when the action got back to him and the cards were tabled.
Gediminas Uselis: A♦J♥
Anton Suarez: 7♥7♠
Uselis took a commanding lead in the hand by pairing his ace on the A♠2♦8♥ flop. But, the 7♣ hit the turn to give Suarez a set and leave Uselis drawing dead. An inconsequential 4♥ landed on the river, and Uselis was out of the event.
After most of the chips went into the middle preflop between Leo Worthington-Leese on the button and Yuri Gama in the small blind, generating a 660,000-chip pot, Gama checked the 9♣3♦K♣ flop. Worthington-Leese bet the 4,000 he had left and Gama called.
Leo Worthington-Leese: K♥Q♣
Yuri Gama: 10♥10♠
Gama seemed disappointed to discover a king in Worthington-Leese's hand, and was left on fumes after the 3♥4♥ runout was revealed. He was eliminated a few hands later.
Silius Moll moved all in for 122,000 in middle position as action folded to Luka Bojovic in the small blind. He confirmed the amount before calling, while the rest of the table got out of the way.
Silius Moll: A♠Q♠
Luka Bojovic: A♣A♦
Moll's predicament became even more dire when Bojovic found the last ace in the deck on the A♥J♦3♣ flop, giving him top set. The board ran out 8♦2♦ and Moll was sent to the rail.
