Shevliakov Holds With Aces to Double Through Jungevicius and Bust Gaehl

Aleksandr Shevliakov open-raised from early position, Kestutis Jungevicius called in the small blind, then Sebastian Gaehl moved all in from the big blind for 430,000. Shevliakov called and Jungevicius also called to bring the pot to over 1,200,000 preflop.

Action slowed down as the flop came 9♦9♣7♥, both players still with chips opting to check. The turn came the 8♣ and Jungevicius pushed all in with a covering stack. Shevliakov quickly called for his last 420,000 and all three players revealed their hands.

Gaehl and Jungevicius both had straight draws, while Jungevicius also had a pair of eights. Shevliakov was in great shape with his pocket aces, though, and just needed a clean river to win a huge pot.

The river came a complete blank, the 3♥, so Shevliakov held to win the pot, doubling through Jungevicius to bring his stack close to 2,000,000 and eliminating Gaehl from the tournament.

Obreshkov hit top pair on the A♥J♠2♥ flop and Barbero was left drawing thin. The 5♥ turn meant Barbero was drawing dead going to the K♥ river and headed off to the payout desk.

Rafael Navas was also eliminated shortly after losing most of his chips to Mateusz Moolhuizen.

Tytgat Survives With Short Stack, Then Busts in Big Blind

Nicolas Tytgat had 20,000, less than one big blind, which he put in the middle from the hijack. Fahredin Mustafov completed his small blind for 25,000 in the small blind and Diego De Martino checked in the big blind.

Mustafov and De Martino then checked it all the way down on the flop, turn and river on a board of 8♣K♣Q♥3♠J♠ and players revealed their hands.

Somehow, Tytgat had what he needed to survive. He flipped over A♣Q♣ for a pair of queens. De Martino had a pair of queens with weaker kicker and Mustafov had nothing much. Tytgat tripled up, but he wasn't out of trouble yet and still had just a few big blinds.

A couple of hands later, following an open-raise to 50,000 from early position, De Martino three-bet to 170,000 from the button. Tytgat was in the big blind and commited to making the call for 60,000. Players flipped their cards.

Heads-up on a board of 9♣8♠7♦A♦, Enrico Coppola bet 80,000 from the button and Ari Engel called in the big blind.

The river was the 8♥, and Coppola announced all in. Engel took several minutes and burned through multiple time banks before calling for his last 400,000.

Coppola showed J♥10♥ for a flopped straight and Engel tossed 10♣9♦ into the muck on his way to the exit.

After getting it in ahead and losing a huge pot moments before, Lucas Pochat open-shoved from the hijack for 260,000 and was looked up by Jamil Wakil in the small blind, who had him well covered as players flipped their cards.
