Players from all over the world traveled to Spain to play, with 79 countries and every continent represented. Italy provided the most players with 149, while France followed with 141. The host country of Spain delivered 88 entrants, while 68 players from the United States made the transatlantic journey to play in the EPT Barcelona Main Event.

Joao Carneiro raised to 4,000 in middle position before calling when Ayvar Akhmedov three-bet to 9,500 from the small blind.
Akhmedov continued for 8,500 on a J♠5♣8♦ flop, which Carneiro called. Akhmedov then checked on the 8♠ turn, prompting Carneiro to take over the betting lead, putting 10,000 into the middle. Akhmedov moved all-in, asking Carneiro to put his stack of roughly 44,500 at risk, and Carneiro obliged, making the call.

The prize pool will be shared among the top 271 finishers, with each of those guaranteed a minimum payout of €8,600.
The final nine players are guaranteed six-figure payouts, while the eventual champion will take home €1,370,050 and the coveted EPT Main Event trophy.
