Pesic Eliminated Following Delay

Level 20 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Boris Pesic
Boris Pesic

In the first of two hands that led to the demise of Boris Pesic, the Slovenian called an early position raise to 24,000 from the cutoff and then faced a three-bet to 177,000 from Laurent Polito in the big blind. The original raiser folded, but Pesic called.

Pesic called, and before the dealer had even pulled the chips in, Polito said the words "all in". Another player at the table asked if that was binding, and the floor was called to provide a ruling. After a short delay in play, the tournament officials advised that once a flop had been dealt, Polito would be held to his words and would be forced all in.

The dealer spread a 2Q3 flop, and, as was necessary, Polito slid all his chips into the middle. Pesic had the smaller of the two stacks, and as such, he would be at risk if he chose to call.

Pesic took his time to decide, trying to engage in some conversation with Polito, who remained resolute. Pesic then chose to fold 99 face up.

The very next shuffle, Benny Glaser raised from under the gun, and Pesic moved all in for 176,000. The action returned to Glaser, who called.

Boris Pesic: 44 All in
Benny Glaser: 99

The 3J5510 board offered no improvement for Pesic, who was eliminated.
