Czuczor Goes from Zero to Hero

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Evangelos Tsairis
Evangelos Tsairis

Within the last two consecutive hands before the break, Marton Czuczor went from a short stack to an above average stack when doubling and tripling up. First he open shoved for 25,900 with {7-Clubs} {7-Hearts} and won the flip against {A-Spades} {J-Spades} when the {7-Diamonds} on the flop made things clear.

The last hand before the break he raised, Arvydas Merfeldas three-bet and Evangelos Tsairis four-bet to 14,100 from the button. Czuczor moved all in for 55,800 and Merfeldas reshoved for 131,100. Tsairis asked for a quick count of the second all in and then called.

Czuczor: {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts}
Merfeldas: {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}
Tsairis: {K-Diamonds} {K-Clubs}

The board ran out {4-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {3-Spades} {8-Diamonds} and gave Czuczor a huge spin and great feeling to head into the break with.

Govert Survives

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Govert Metall put the last of his 6,000 chips in the middle and got called by three players including the blind.

A flop of {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}{j-Diamonds} saw big blind Emmanuel Nakache bet to get the others out of the pot and they folded.

Nakache had hit top pair with his {j-Clubs}{9-Spades} and Metaal turned over his {k-Hearts}{7-Clubs}.

The turn {7-Spades} and river {k-Clubs} did the trick for Metaal and he sat back down to more than triple up.

Tell You At the Break

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Jouny Hanna opened from early position for 4,500 and got calls from small blind Eugene Katchalov and big blind Vadim Shlez.

On a flop of {3-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} Katchalov checked but Shlez led out for 5,600. Hanna called and Katchalov folded. The turn card was the {6-Clubs} and Shelz continued for 11,700. Hanna raised him to 35,300 and Shelz looked a little crushed but after some thought let his hand go in the face of such aggression.

"We have a break soon, I'll tell you what I had." Hanna told him.

Govert Metaal Loses to 9-3 off

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Govert Metaal limped in from the hijack for 1,600 and his country man Clyde Tjauw Foe in the small blind completed. Dan Furnival in the big blind squeezed all in for 29,000 even, and the decision was back on Metaal.

Govert, still looking like a boss with the fedora, scarf and sunglasses, asked Furnival 'What shall I do?' Furnival answered' 'I only looked at one card!' while smiling.

Metaal eventually pushed all in as well and Tjauw Foe quickly mucked. 'I folded the winner, six-four off suit' laughed Tjauw Foe as he saw his cards would have been live against Furnival's {3-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and Metaal's {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}.

Tjauw Foe wouldn't have won though, and neither did Metaal. The flop hit Furnival with {3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}, and the {10-Spades} and {9-Hearts} that followed were good for Furnival as well.

Metaal now extremely short, Furnival back in the running.

Nice Try Meissonnier

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Jerome Arnould opened for 3,500 under the gun and it got round to Eric Meissonnier in the big blind who made the call.

The flop was {q-Hearts}{7-Spades}{10-Spades} and Meissonnier went for a check-raise to 10,000 after a 4,500 bet from Arnould who then made the call.

The turn card was the {3-Clubs} and a lead this time from Meissonnier for 12,000 couldn't shake Arnould off.

The river {10-Hearts} saw a cessation of hostilities and when Meissonnier turned over {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts} Arnould showed him the winning {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}.

Tureniec Cracks Aces to Stay Alive

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Michael Tureniec
Michael Tureniec

Drisse El Ouaret, who had won his seat in a live satellite here at the Casino Barriere in Deauville, opened from the small blind to 4,200 and Michael Tureniec moved all in from one seat over for what looked like 42,000. El Quaret called with {A-Spades} {A-Hearts} and Tureniec had {K-Spades} {8-Spades}.

After the {Q-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {J-Clubs} turn the Swede had completed a straight and his opponent had quite a few "nice words" in French for Tureniec. The {2-Hearts} river bricked and awarded the pot to the former EPT champion.
