Quads Are Good For Lamagnere

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Eugene Katchalov opened for 8,000 and Matthieu Lamagnere moved all in. Georgios Zisimopoulos then moved all in over the top of him and when Katchalov folded the cards were exposed.

Lamagnere was at risk with {j-Spades}{j-Clubs} and Zisimopoulos held {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}.

Lamagnere was left looking for one of the remaining jacks in the pack as the cards ran out {j-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. He found them both to double up and Zisimopoulos handed over the chips without a whimper.

Down to Less Than 100

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

After a three-way flop of {3-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {8-Spades}, Firas Nassar made a continuation bet of 22,000 and was called by Yannick Chevrier before Jin Haijing moved all in for 65,500. Nassar tanked for quite some time and then folded, claiming in table chat he had pocket aces. He shook his head when Chevrier called and flipped over {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} whereas Haijing had {K-Clubs} {J-Clubs}.

The {Q-Spades} on the turn sent Haijing to the rail and the meaningless {K-Hearts} river completed the board. Among the other notables to bust before the money were Alexandre Reard and Rhys Jones, the screens currently show 99 players left.

Hero Call at the Wrong Time

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

The {7-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} board was already complete and Guillaume Diaz had checked from the big blind before David Van Den Berg moved all in from the button for 68,500. Diaz spent a long time considering his decision and the clock was called on him. With only one second to go, the Frenchman tossed in a T-1,000 chip to make the call and then tried to muck his {A-Diamonds} {4-Spades} after seeing the superior {9-Clubs} {9-Spades} of his opponent.

Danchev Back to the Short Stack

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

PCA champion Dimitar Danchev had doubled up once again and was around the average stack when he got involved into a raising war with Sebastien Lebaron. The Frenchman ended up being at risk from the cutoff for his last 99,000 chips with {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts} and Danchev had picked the wrong timing, tabling {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} in the small blind.

After the {K-Spades} {6-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {10-Clubs} board he was sent right back to the short stack and needs to grind it up again.

MacPhee Soars with Straight Flush

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Kevin MacPhee
Kevin MacPhee

Kevin MacPhee and Robert Schulz were heads up on a board of {10-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. MacPhee checked the turn over to Schulz who fired 17,500 from the button. MacPhee came over the top with a check-raise to 57,500 and Schulz came along to see a river.

The {J-Spades} paired the board on the river and MacPhee wasted little time organizing a bet of 87,500. Schulz went into the tank, first cutting out the proper bet amount before staring down MacPhee. After about two minutes, Schulz reached for the calling chips and dropped them forward.

MacPhee confidently rolled over {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for a straight flush, prompting an instant muck from Schulz. MacPhee scooped the massive pot and has retaken the chip lead with 596,000.

Good Hand Should Win

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

All in preflop, Sameer Khurana tabled {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and it was Eric Qu who was at risk holding {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}.

The final board was {5-Spades}{q-Hearts}{q-Spades}{j-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and although Qu did celebrate Khurna took it in relatively good spirits telling him, “Good hand. Good hand should win.”

Jan Heitmann Eliminated

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Jan Heitmann
Jan Heitmann

Jan Heitmann has been eliminated from the tournament and we saw him busy updating his twitter in the hall way.

Heitmann was down to 57,000 he told us, and limped in from early position with {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}. A French player on the button isolated to 10,000 and both blinds folded. Action was back on Heitmann who pushed all in. The button tanked for about a minute and a half before calling with {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}.

The {7-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{9-Spades} board favored the button and Heitmann hit the rail.

Action Slows Down

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

With around ten players to lose before the bubble bursts sending one last player home empty handed a lot more players are taking their time to make decisions preflop. It is prevalent on almost every table and all relatively good natured. Knowing what is at risk no one is complaining or calling out other players for the tactic, yet.

There does seem to be a limit though, with a two minutes stall seemingly ok, more than that and the clock could be called as was the case recently where Patrice Biton had opened for 11,000 and faced a decision for his tournament life when Julien Duveau moved all in.

The minutes ticked by and the clock was called. With the ten second countdown just about to begin Biton mucked his cards.

Danchev Done by Bielskis

Dimitar Danchev

Dimitar Danchev was all in and at risk for his short stack of 10 big blinds with {10-Clubs} {10-Hearts} and Andrius Bielskis one seat over had him dominated with the {Q-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}. The two outer didn't come on a board of {6-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {7-Hearts} {8-Clubs} and that was it for the Bulgarian.

Dimov and Luca Going Up

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

After a flop of {K-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {2-Diamonds}, Ivan Luca bet out of the big blind and then called a raise to 36,500 by Gangzhou Hu. The {5-Hearts} turn was checked down before the Argentinian took down the pot by betting the {3-Hearts} river.

Hu mucked his cards and Luca has more than doubled up his stack throughout the first levels today. Ognyan Dimov is enjoying a similar day thus far and is up considerably.
