Sergio Aido Eliminated in 23rd Place (£19,650)

Level 18 : 5,000/1,000, 1,000 ante
Sergio Aido - 23rd Place
Sergio Aido - 23rd Place

Sergio Aido got the last of his severely depleted stack in with {a-}{q-} but got a call from Ole Schemion holding {9-}{9-}.

No help from the dealer as Schemion’s nines held to bust Aido.

Pablo Fernandez Bubbles the EPT £10,300 High Roller

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Pablo Fernandez
Pablo Fernandez

Pablo Fernandez moved all in for 67,000 preflop and Dimitar Danchev called. Next to act was Joel Nordkvist and he tanked for several minutes before making it 137,000. The action was quickly passed back to the Bulgarian who announced all in.

Nordkvist let out a big, embarrassed smile, not hugely enthused about his hand, but he called all in!

Fernandez: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Danchev: {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Nordkvist: {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}

The board ran out {4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{J-Spades}{A-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and Fernandez couldn't find a nine to save his tournament life. The other two players were no doubt more relieved not to have lost than to have actually knocked out the bubble. Everyone is now in the money, save for our unlucky Spaniard.

O'Dwyer's Tough Day

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Steve O'Dwyer
Steve O'Dwyer

A really brutal last couple of hours for Steve O'Dwyer, losing with ace-king to ace-jack crippled the Irishman and he had been waiting for a spot to put his remaining chips in the middle. It went in with {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} against Team PokerStars Pro Johnny Lodden's {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} but the board came {9-Spades}{10-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}.

There's now a redraw for three tables and the tournament is officially on the bubble. Nothing for the next person out, £19,650 for everyone else.

That's a big jump.

Massive Pot For Markin, Aido Crippled

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Leonid Markin
Leonid Markin

In what appeared to be a six-bet shove preflop from Sergio Aido, he got it all in and clashed with fellow big stack Leonid Markin who instantly called the bet.

Aido held {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} but his face fell when he found out that Markin held {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

Players gathered around to witness the carnage as the cards ran out {j-Spades}{2-Clubs}{q-Spades}{6-Spades}{6-Hearts} to drop Aido to one of the short stacks and deliver Markin a huge coup.

Nervous Faces

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Steve O'Dwyer, Yann Dion and Mark Teltscher are all taking it in turns to pace around the room looking at the short-stacks of the other players. Elsewhere, Team PokerStars Pro Victoria Coren Mitchell hasn't returned from dinner yet, a victim of Friday night traffic perhaps?

It's a Quacker!

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Sergio Aido opened preflop to 18,000 and it was passed around to Martin Quack in the big blind who moved all in. Aido had a think and then made the call.

Aido: {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}
Quack: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}

The board came {5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades}{10-Hearts} and Quack doubled up.
