Aido's Big River Bet Pushes Flowers Out

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Randal Flowers
Randal Flowers

Sergio Aido raised to 6,500 preflop from under-the-gun and Randal Flowers peeled from middle position. Both players checked the {5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} flop and Aido led for 15,000 on the {4-Hearts} turn. The river was the {A-Clubs} and Aido bet a hefty 66,000, Flowers postulated the idea that Aido had been looking to check-raise the flop with two big hearts in his hand and the American folded his hand.

David Peters moved all in and Yuri Nasedkin put him at risk by making the call from the big blind with {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. Peters was in bad shape for the last of his chips with {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}.

The board ran out {7-Spades}{3-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and Peters was eliminated.

Higgins gets Hoofed

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Simon Higgins had previously lost most of his chips and shoved with {7-Spades}{6-Hearts} in late position, Jorryt van Hoof looked him up with {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} and there were no miracles for the Englishman on a blank board.

Viktor Blom
Viktor Blom

Viktor Blom opened to 6,500 preflop from the cutoff and Dimitar Danchev made it 18,500 on the button. Blom responded by moving all in and Danchev sighed, rechecked his cards then made the call.

Blom: {A-Spades}{J-Spades}
Danchev: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}

The board came {A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{K-Clubs} and Blom was crippled as a result and eliminated a few hands later.

Vamplew Busts Malnik

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Dov Malnik, who sat down for the first time in the tournament this morning, has just been eliminated at the hands of David Vamplew. Malik shoved {a-Spades}{5-Spades} from the button and when Vamplew in the big blind had got a count he made the call with {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}.

The board ran out {q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{6-Spades} and as Malnik’s phone rang in his pocket he was free to answer it.

Coren Mitchell Doubles Through Farrell

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Victoria Coren Mitchell

David Peters started the action with a raise to 6,500 and Victoria Coren Mitchell made the call from the cut-off. Niall Farrell wielding his big stack made it 18,700 and once Peters had folded Coren Mitchell mentioned a previous hand where Farell had done the same move with six-seven and made the call to which Farrell responded, “Maybe I’m double bluffing. Therein lies the fun.”

The flop was {2-Hearts}{j-Spades}{7-Hearts} and a check from Coren Mitchell saw Farrell continue for 21,500. “Two orange ones.” said Coren Mitchell check-raising him to 50,000 to which Farrell responded, “All the discs.”

Coren Mitchell called the shove and tabled {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} saying she had been honest when she said she was looking for a spot like this. Farrell showed {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}. The turn {a-Hearts} gave COren Mitchell her flush and the river was the {9-Diamonds} giving her a straight for good measure.

Thomas Muhlocker is out after calling all in on the river of a {J-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{5-Spades}{A-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} board against Niall Farrell. The Scottish player showed {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} and Muchlocker mucked (despite being meant to table his hand as it was an all-in showdown). Farrell is the chip leader with just over 50 players left.

Colman Flops a Set

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Daniel Colman
Daniel Colman

We picked up the action on the turn of a board reading {4-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades} as Daniel Colman bet 45,000 which looked just under a pot sized bet. Leonid Markin was his opponent and he studied the board before moving in and getting an instant call.

Colman tabled {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and a muttering Markin showed his {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}. A river {a-Diamonds} sealed the deal to bust Markin and give the dangerous Colman something to work with.
