Off to the Races for Spindler & Wynants

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Dominik Panka opened for 12,000 from the hijack only to have Chris Wynants three-bet to 30,000 from the small blind. Benny Spindler, who was in the big, then four-bet all in for 192,000 total. Panka got out of the way and Wynants made the call.

Spindler: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Wynants: {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

The {8-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop kept Wynants in the lead, but then the dealer burned and turned the {A-Diamonds}.

"Awe f**k," Wynants let slip. He then watched helplessly as the {10-Spades} blanked on the river before sending more of his stack over to Spindler.

Fernandez Drops Some

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Pablo Fernandez started into Day 3 as shortest stack but managed to navigate through the first few levels, survived the bubble and built up a stack. Some of that now vanished though and under most unfortunate circumstances. Carlo Citrone was all in for 59,000 and flipped over the {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs}.

Fernandez was way ahead with {A-Hearts} {A-Spades} but the board ran out {J-Hearts} {9-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {K-Diamonds} and Citrone doubled. "This is the one I gotta lose," laughed the Brit and Citrone joked to the dealer: "If I win this tournament, you can have a holiday anywhere in the world." That's hereby duly noted.

One Round Penalty for Roig

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

"You get a one round penalty sir" tournament director Luca Vivaldi told Juan Antonio Riera Roig. Roig got up from the table, still visibly on tilt, and made his way to the rail. Vivaldi told us that Roig had destroyed a card by crumbling it after losing a big pot on the river.

Duhamel told us that Roig had called a raise from the big blind. The flop had come {A-}{K-}{9-} with two spades and Roig had check raised Rudolf Wilhelm Zintel's 12,000 continuation bet to 38,000. Zintel had called, and had called the 65,000 bet that Roig made on the blank turn as well.

The {Q-} on the river had made Roig check. Zintel had bet 125,000 and Roig had made the call. Roig had showed {J-}{10-} for a missed flush draw but a hit straight and Roig had crumbled one of his cards and mucked.

Demiroglu Dominates Angell

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Brett Angell
Brett Angell

Brett Angell started with fewer than 40,000 chips and managed to turn that into 600,000 over the course of the first two levels. His stack is back on the slide now though.

Serdar Demiroglu was all in for 75,000 and Angell gave him a spin.

Demiroglu: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Angell: {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

The board ran {7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{2-Clubs}.

How did Zapatero Boost his Stack?

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Javier Gomez Zapatero
Javier Gomez Zapatero

In the break we caught Sergio Aido and Javier Gomez Zapatero in a little discussion and used the opportunity to inquire how the Spaniard bumped his stack from 500,000 to 900,000, as that wasn't clear just yet. Apparently he was involved in a multi-way pot that saw a player squeeze all in for 300,000 with pocket queens and Zapatero thankfully called with pocket aces.
