Paus Bluffs and Busts

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Petr Machacek raised and picked up two callers including Dominik Paus. Only the German check-called a bet worth 35,000 on the {9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop and both players checked through the {J-Diamonds} turn. On the {5-Diamonds} river, Paus jammed for 156,000 and Machacek eventually called.

Paus: {6-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for a busted straight draw
Machacek: {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} for a busted flush draw with ace-high

Gann is Gone

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Ivan Luca opened to 24,000 from the cutoff and Andreas Gann shoved for what looked like 70,000 from the button. Martin Ilavsky then squeezed a four-bet in from the small blind and Luca let go.

Gann: {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}
Ilavsky: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}

The flop came {9-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Spades} and now Gann not only had to fear the over cards but also every spade as well. A blank {9-Hearts} turn changed nothing, but the {2-Spades} river provided said flush and that sent Gann to the rail.

Running Good

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Patrick Wolff started the day middle of the pack just above average and has close to a million chips now. Alexandru Farcasanu has an almost identical stack after running pretty solid with {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} against the {A-Clubs}{K-Spades} of Karel Novak. The dealer produced two fours on the flop ... .

Wolff had raised and called a three-bet with pocket fives to flop a full house against start-of-the-day chip leader Daniel Rose. The latter was not willing to let go and called down the streets with pocket tens to lose a ton of chips.

Schmitz Sends Chips to Siemund

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Tonino Schmitz
Tonino Schmitz

Tonino Schmitz open-shoved for 130,000 from the cutoff and the action folded around to Peter Siemund in the big blind. The latter didn't snap-called but eventually tossed in the chips to put Schmitz at risk.

Schmitz: {A-Clubs}{4-Hearts}
Siemund: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran out {Q-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades}{J-Spades}{7-Hearts} and Schmitz was sent to the rail, not necessarily happy that he faced a reluctant call in the hand.

Yuksel Busts to Yildirim

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Ersin Yuksel shoved his short stack from the cutoff and Mahmut Yildirim shoved from one seat over to isolate successfully with the {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}. Yuksel only held {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts} and could not get there on a board of {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}.

Palyuga Gone in Two Hands

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

First Lazer Gjergij scored a lucky double up against table neighbor Andriy Palyuga and the latter then shoved the next hand out of the small blind with {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. Dominik Paus in the big blind called with {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades} and the board {9-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades}{A-Spades}{10-Hearts} provided no help for the Ukrainian.

Wyraz Busts Burstein

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Grzegorz Wyraz opened from the hijack and then called the shove of Vladimir Burstein for 60,000 with the {K-Spades}{J-Clubs}. Burstein had the under pair with {7-Hearts}{7-Spades} and the board came {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{J-Spades}{J-Hearts} to bust Burstein.
