Hellmuth Authors Huge Comeback, Stuns Negreanu in 'High Stakes Duel'

Level 8 : 1,000/2,000, 250 ante
Hellmuth vs. Negreanu
Hellmuth vs. Negreanu

After months of jawing, Phil Hellmuth and Daniel Negreanu finally met on the felt for a heads-up match for $100,000 in PokerGO's "High Stakes Duel."

And the wait proved to be worth it as they did not disappoint.

A lengthy, six-hour battle would see Negreanu go up huge. The needles flew as he pulled out a few props to rub some salt in the wounds he was opening on his longtime rival.

Vieira Bricks the Draw

Level 8 : 1,000/2,000, 250 ante

Yuri Dzivielevski raised to 4,200 and Joao Vieira called on the button. The flop came {2-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and Dzivielevski checked. Vieira bet 4,020, Dzivielevski check-raised to 14,000, Vieira three-bet shoved 60,622 and the Brazilian called.

Joao Vieira: {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Yuri Dzivielevski: {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

A pair of tens proved enough as the board ran out {6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, sending Vieira on a reentry.

Field Steadily Rising

Level 9 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

A total of 173 players have already ponied up the requisite $10,300 to play in this event. 136 of them are still in contention for a slice of the $3,000,000 guaranteed prize pool, with late registration open until level 22.

"PUYA" Flops Set in Three-Bet Pot

Level 9 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

"PUYA" raised to 5,280 in the cutoff and Tauan Naves three-bet to 18,480 in the small blind. "PUYA" called with {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} to see a dream flop of {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{6-Spades} appear. Navas bet 21,360 and "PUYA" went all for 162,894.

Navas called for 61,090 more with {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} but, much to his dismay, saw he was outflopped. Neither the {4-Hearts} turn nor {5-Diamonds} river turned it around and Naves was out.

Benitez Soars Over Half A Mill

Level 9 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Rolle falls to Benitez
Rolle falls to Benitez

Francisco "VaPaCooler" Benitez raised to 4,800 in middle position and Benjamin Rolle defended the big blind. Rolle check-called 3,300 on the {q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{a-Spades} flop and 8,934 on the {10-Diamonds} turn.

The river brought the {j-Clubs} and Rolle led out for 14,831. Benitez shoved in response for 75,329 and Rolle called after much deliberation with {k-Clubs}{3-Clubs}.

Unfortunately for the German, Benitez tabled {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for the nuts to soar up the leaderboard.

Muehloecker Blazing Through Two Opponents

Level 10 : 1,400/2,800, 350 ante

Thomas Muehloecker is sitting pretty at 420k after dispatching both Benjamin Chalot and Joao Vieira in short succession. In the first hand, Muehloecker got {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} preflop all in against Chalot's {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} and flopped a queen to make things a formality.

Next, he got rid of Vieira by once again picking up a pair of queens and holding against Vieira's ace-jack. Chalot hasn't reentered yet, while Vieira went for a third bullet.
