Sammartino Busts Volkmann and Rolle

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 600 ante

Bruno Volkmann open-jammed for 95,143 on the button soon after coming back from the break and was called by Dario Sammartino out of the big blind.

Bruno Volkmann: {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Dario Sammartino: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}

The tens held thanks to a board of {a-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades}{6-Hearts}.

One hand later, Sammartino raised to 35,000 out of the small blind and Benjamin Rolle called all-in for the 26,169 he had left in the big blind.

Benjamin Rolle: {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Dario Sammartino: {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

The board brought {j-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{a-Spades} and Sammartino spiked the winning flush on the turn.

Big Clashes in Quick Succession

Level 14 : 2,250/4,500, 550 ante
Van der Spuy vs Gierse
Van der Spuy vs Gierse

Mustapha Kanit scored a big double when his {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} out of the small blind held against Artur Martirosian's {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. They got it in after the {8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}{9-Clubs} turn with Martirosian holding a big draw. However, the {5-Spades} river was not enough.

Marius Gierse then clashed with Jean-Pierre "Kunkuwap" Van Der Spuy to create one of the biggest pots so far.

Jean-Pierre "Kunkuwap" Van Der Spuy: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Marius Gierse: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

The {j-Spades}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{6-Hearts} board gave the South African a set of tens and Gierse dropped below the starting stack.

Last but not least, Wiktor Malinowski raised and four-bet jammed for 234,870 total following a three-bet of just 28,800 by Dario Sammartino. The latter called to create another pot of nearly half a million.

Wiktor Malinowski: {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Dario Sammartino: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

The {10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{6-Spades} board gave Sammartino top set and Malinowski vanished for now.

Yan Runs Into it a Third Time

Level 14 : 2,250/4,500, 550 ante

Timothy Nuter raised to 9,900 and David Yan called out of the big blind. On a {q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop, Yan check-called for 7,770 and Nuter called. They checked the {q-Spades} turn and Yan led the {k-Diamonds} river for 71,100 with 230 chips behind.

Nuter called with {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for broadway and Yan's {a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for the nut flush blocker left him with dust. The last few chips vanished right after as Yan succumbed a third time.

Recent Casualties Part II

Level 14 : 2,250/4,500, 550 ante

Joshua "slayerv1fan" Hoesel three-bet jammed for more than 91,000 on the button and was called by Roman "RRomashka" Emelyanov in the small blind.

Joshua "slayerv1fan" Hoesel: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Roman "RRomashka" Emelyanov: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

The board ran out {7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} and Hoesel was gone.

Many others followed as the tournament reached a stage of violent preflop action with showdowns every 15 seconds.

Double Knockout for Bohn

Level 14 : 2,250/4,500, 550 ante
Bohn busts Leonard and Vieira
Bohn busts Leonard and Vieira

Patrick Leonard got it in with the {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs} from the cutoff and Joao Vieira stuck the last chips in holding {5-Hearts}{5-Spades} out of the small blind.

Blake "Beast2018!" Bohn covered them both with {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} in the big blind. And the best hand preflop prevailed thanks to a board of {q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}.

Yan Caught Bluffing Again

Level 14 : 2,250/4,500, 550 ante

David Yan defended the big blind against Mike Watson's min-raise and check-raised the {7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop from 4,000 to 14,000. Watson called and did so on the {5-Clubs} turn when Yan bet 12,000.

Yan bet the {a-Diamonds} river for 26,400 with 301 chips behind and Watson called with {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}, catching Yan bluffing with the {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. It was all over for the Kiwi one hand later and Yan then re-entered for the third bullet.
