Ezzie Doubles

Level 9 : 400/800, 75 ante

The player in the small blind bet 6,000 on a {6-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{6-Spades}{j-Hearts} board, and Raymond Ezzie called in the big. On the {3-Spades} river, the first player bet 6,000 again, and Ezzie put his whole stack in, 6,600 more. The small blind reluctantly called, and Ezzie showed {6-Clubs}{4-Spades} for trips. The small blind showed the {a-Spades}.

Wanty Doubles Through Shedlowsky

Level 8 : 300/600, 50 ante

Stan Shedlowsky bet 3,000 after both blinds checked to him on {q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{a-Hearts}, and only small blind Cooper Wanty called. On the {7-Spades} river, Wanty bet 6,000, and Shedlowsky put him all in. Wanty called immediately for 5,850 more with {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}, and Shedlowsky had {9-}{9-}.

Ross Takes from Brown

Level 8 : 300/600, 50 ante

A player under the gun raised to 3,600 and got calls from Mike Ross (button) and Bobby Brown (big blind). Everyone checked the {4-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{a-Spades} flop, and a {5-Clubs} turned. Brown bet about 4,000, and Ross raised to 10,000. Brown called, and he quickly check-called 12,500 more on the {k-Clubs} river.

Brown showed {a-}{k-} for top two, but Ross had {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades} for a set.

Ross Busts a Pair

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante
Mike Ross
Mike Ross

Mike Ross said he had just won two pots with aces and kings to climb up to around 50,000, and he opened under the gun to 1,700. A player called off for 1,500, and the small blind made it 4,500. Ross asked for a count and then moved all in for 17,000 or so more.

"I'll win this one, you win the next one," Ross said. "Figured I can't have a hand three times in a row, right?"

"That's absolutely not what I figured," the small blind said. "I have a hand."

He decided to call and turned over {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}. Ross showed {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}, and the third player had {k-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. The board ran out {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades}, sending the whole pot to Ross.

"When you're hot, you're hot," the busted small blind said.

Michael Hahn must have entered the tournament just before registration closed at the end of the dinner break, as he's taken a seat at Table 6. Hahn, an Indiana native, has more than $430,000 in live tournament cashes, highlighted by a WSOPC ring in 2013. He's also no stranger to Hollywood Poker Open success, having finished runner-up to Jesse McEuen at HPO Lawrenceburg, the opening event of this season.

Three-Diamond Flop Favors Franciosi This Time

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante
John Franciosi
John Franciosi

A bit after losing about half of his stack on a three-diamond flop, John Franciosi saw an opponent in early position bet 1,700 on a {5-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flop. Franciosi raised to 4,000 and called when his opponent snap-shoved for about 18,000.

Franciosi: {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

Franciosi was fading diamonds this time instead of hoping for one, and he got two blanks as the {7-Spades} and {10-Hearts} hit.
