Ioakimides Doubles Through Verhulst

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Paul Verhulst opened to 950 and there was one caller before Andros Iaokimides shoved all in for 9,350. Verhulst shoved over the top and the two were heads up to the flop.

Verhulst had {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} against the {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds} of Ioakimides, but the board would help out the underdog when four diamonds came on the {10-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} board, giving Ioakimides the double up.

Vance Takes it Down With River Bet

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Tim Vance
Tim Vance

Tim Vance and Mike Rieck were heads up on the river, after four players saw the flop only two remained.

The action started when three players called a 700 raise and the flop came {10-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. All four players in the hand checked.

The turn was the {4-Spades} and Rieck led for 1,300, Vance was the lone caller.

The river was the {q-Clubs} and Rieck bet 2,400. Vance quickly threw in a raise, making about 7,000, but Rieck folded almost as quickly and it didn't matter the amount. Vance won the pot.

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Gerding Your Coins

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Bill Gerding
Bill Gerding

Bill Gerding just got two big hands in a row, and on the second he busted Jason Matthews.

On the first hand, Zac Campbell opened to 800 in middle position, and two players called before Gerding made it 2,400 from the small blind. Campbell was the lone caller and the two were heads up to the flop.

The flop was {6-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Spades} and Gerding quickly bet 4,000. Campbell called.

The turn was the {a-Diamonds} and Gerding took a beat before acting. He bet 6,000 and Campbell folded. Gerding slapped two kings on the table.

"That card scared me," he said.

The very next hand, Vadim Kleydman opened to 700 and Gerding was on the button. He made it 2,100 and Jason Matthews called from the small blind.

The flop came {5-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and Gerding led for 4,000. Matthews called.

When the board paired with the {5-Spades} on the turn, Gerding went all in for about 45,000. Matthews went into the tank. He kept talking to Gerding, trying to get some kind of read.

"I flopped two pair," he said.

"We you obviously didn't have the five," replied Gerding.

"You can only have an overpair, do you have an overpair?" asked Matthews.

Gerding didn't respond.

"Show me if I fold?" Matthews asked.

Again, Gerding offered no response.

"Okay," Matthews said, tossing in a call.

Indeed Gerding had an over pair, two queens and Matthews was looking for help, holding {j-}{7-}. It didn't come, instead the river was the {4-Hearts} and that sent Matthews to the rail.

Campbell Makes a Full House

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Vadim Kleydman is giving Day 1b a shot, after being eliminated during Day 1a. So far, it could be going better.

On this hand, he opened for 525 and got two callers. The flop came {3-Spades}{2-Clubs}{a-Clubs} and the action checked to Kleydman. He bet 700 and got one caller, Zac Campbell.

Both players checked the {a-Hearts} on the turn and Campbell led for 2,000 when the {8-Clubs} hit the river. Kleydman called quickly and Campbell showed {a-}{2-} for a full house.
