Maxcy Cuts It Close

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante
Charles Maxcy
Charles Maxcy

Charles Maxcy just won a three-way pot on the river with nine high.

Maxcy led the river on a board reading {j-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. He bet 4,000 and, with one player was all in, his active opponent folded.

The all-in player almost mucked his hand, assuming there was no way he could win, but Maxcy showed {9-}{8-} for nine high and suddenly it appeared like the all-in player might have a chance. But, the all-in player showed the {8-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a busted flush draw that was left with just eight high, and Maxcy won the pot.

Michael Myers Off To a Fast Start

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Michael Myers joined at the first break of the Hollywood Poker Open Toledo Regional Main Event and has already more than doubled his starting stack.

He just called a river bet with pocket queens in a large three-way pot. The board read {k-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts} and the first player checked. The next player to act bet 4,600, and Myers called. The other player folded, and it was the queens of Meyers that were good enough to win the pot. His opponent showed the {7-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for just a pair of eights.

Moneymaker Can't Bluff Robinson

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Denny Robinson just won a pot with pocket tens, after Chris Moneymaker led the river for 7,000 into a pot of about 14,000.

Moneymaker started things off with a raise to 525 preflop, and Robinson called. A third player reraised to 1,500, and both Moneymaker and Robinson called.

The flop was {5-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, and action checked to the three-bettor. He bet an unknown amount, but his opponents didn't go anywhere. Moneymaker and Robinson both called.

The turn was the {a-Hearts}, and all three players checked. The river was the {2-Spades}, and Moneymaker led out for 7,000. Robinson called, and the third player folded.

"Six high," said Moneymaker, turning over the {6-Spades}{4-Spades}.

Robinson showed pocket tens — {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} — and won the pot.
