Geller Gets There on Grisham for Biggest Pot of Tournament

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Greg Geller
Greg Geller

Matt Grisham was in the process of standing up and taking a picture of what was the biggest pot to date in the tournament. His stack was in the process of being counted out by the dealer while Greg Geller was counting out his own stack to see who covered whom.

While the math was happening, Geller recounted the hand, saying he had opened on the button and Grisham three-bet him from the big blind. Geller called and the flop came {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}{5-Spades}.

Grisham continued with a bet of 40,000 and Geller called. The turn came {10-Spades} and Grisham shoved all in for around 80,000. Geller called.

Matt Grisham: {a-}{a-}
Greg Geller: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}

Geller was in need of a spade to come otherwise he was set to hit the rail. The river brought him the {2-Spades} to secure the double and bring his stack to around 290,000, meanwhile, Grisham was left with just 3,200.

On the following hand, Geller raised and Grisham called off his stack while everybody else folded.

Greg Geller: {7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
Matt Grisham: {k-Clubs}{10-Spades}

The board ran out {q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{k-Spades} and Grisham secured the double to bring him to a stack of around five big blinds.

Dan Gregg was no longer seen in his seat and word was that he had gotten it in as a massive favorite in a cooler situation against Matt Grisham.

When asked, Grisham was happy to offer the information on the matter, saying that the two saw a flop of {q-}{8-}{5-} with two diamonds and there was a round of betting. The turn brought another {q-Spades} and stacks got in.

Matt Grisham: {q-}{j-}
Dan Gregg: {k-}{q-}

Gregg was a massive favorite going to the river, needing to dodge one of two jacks to stay alive in the tournament as well as board-pairing chop outs to fade the double up. Unfortunately for him, the river fell {j-} and Grisham took down the pot, vaulting his stack north of 150,000.

"All That for a Chopped Pot"

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Carlos Lopez opened to 3,600 from early position and received calls from the two players to his left as well as the cutoff. Jon Coelho was in the big blind and defended as well to take five players to the flop {8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{j-Diamonds}.

Coelho checked and Lopez made a continuation-bet of 5,300. The three players behind Lopez quickly folded and Coelho put in chips to call.

The turn came {6-Diamonds} and Coelho checked to Lopez, who fired a second barrel for 7,200. Coelho called. Both players checked the river {4-Clubs} to take the hand to showdown.

"Nice hand," Coelho said as he saw Lopez table {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}. Coelho the ntabled {q-Spades}{j-Clubs} for the same exact hand and the dealer began to split up the pot.

"All that for a chopped pot!" said the player in between Coelho and Lopez on the table as the two took in their share of the pot.
