Frei Eliminated by Johnson's Quads

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Aaron Frei
Aaron Frei

There was four-way action on the river with a board reading {8-Spades}{7-Clubs}{a-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and Jason Johnson bet 6,000. Aaron Frei was on his direct left and shoved all in for around 38,000. The two remaining players in the hand, the cutoff and big blind both folded and Johnson quickly called.

Frei tabled {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs} for aces up with a jack kicker.

"Oh, quads?!" he said as Johnson showed {7-Hearts}{7-Spades} at almost the same exact time, showing four of a kind and eliminating Frei from the tournament shortly after the dinner break and the close of registration for the tournament.

Itoafa Makes Queens Up

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

The hijack opened to 2,500 and received calls from the player on the button as well as Mike Itoafa in the big blind. The flop fell {6-Spades}{9-Spades}{2-Clubs} and Itoafa checked. The hijack made a continuation-bet of 2,500 and the player on the button folded. Itoafa made the call and the turn came {7-Clubs}. Both players checked.

The dealer burned and turned the river {q-Spades} and Itoafa made a bet of 7,000. His opponent found a call.

Itoafa showed {q-Diamonds}{2-Spades} for a rivered two pair, queens up. His opponent asked to confirm the hand and proceeded to muck, saying she had him (prior to the river).

Chip Counts Before Dinner

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Devonshire Eliminated

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Bryan Devonshire was just seen walking away from the table as the hand in which he was eliminated was finishing. According to a player at the table, he had been all in for his last 100 in chips after a floor ruling that left him with that stack. Apparently, he had made a bet for all but his last 100 and saw an opponent call and expose his hand after thinking Devonshire was all in. It was ruled that all action would stand and when Devonshire's opponent put him all in for his last chip on the river he folded his second-best hand. Several hands later, he was eliminated.

Simoneau Outpips Opponent

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

With around 8,000 in the pot on a flop of {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}, a player who was under the gun checked to Ryan Simoneau on his direct left. Simoneau bet 6,000 and received a call.

The turn came {6-Spades} and the under-the-gun player led out for 12,200. Simoneau called. Both players then checked the river {q-Spades}.

After checking behind, Simoneau tabled {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}. His opponent turned over {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} to show that Simoneau had a pair just one notch higher than that of his own and the pot was sent Simoneau's way, making him the most recent player in the tournament to eclipse a stack of 100,000 in chips.
