Shmerl Turned Money

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Action folded to Josh Shmerl in the cutoff who bet 4,000. The player in the small blind moved all in for his last 23,000. Shmerl shrugged his shoulders and tossed his chips in the middle.

Shmerl: {7-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Small blind: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

The {6-Spades}{j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} was a safe flop for the all-in player until the {8-Diamonds} on the turn gave Shmerl a straight and with the {2-Spades} on the river Shmerl eliminated his opponent.

Brian Roberts
Brian Roberts

Action folded to Craig Welko on the button and he moved all in for around 25,000. The player in the small blind folded and Brian Roberts called out of the big.

Roberts: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Welko: {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}

Welko, who has won two preliminary events here at the HPT St. Louis, was ahead and looking to hold, which he did on the {j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop.

Unfortunately for him, the dealer burned and turned the {k-Diamonds} to pair Roberts. The {2-Diamonds} river was no help to Welko and he took his leave from the HPT St. Louis Main Event.

Damian Gum Wins Back-to-Back Hands

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Damian Gum raised to 3,500 from the middle position, and was called by the player on the button and the player in the big blind.

After the big-blind player checked the {k-Spades}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop, Gum continued with a bet of 4,000, getting a call from the player on the button and a fold from the big-blind player.

Gum checked the {9-Spades} turn, which prompted a bet of 5,000 from the button player, followed by a check-raise to 12,000 from Gum, which the button called.

The {7-Diamonds} completed the board, and Gum bet out 20,000. The button then re-checked his holding, thought for a moment and folded.

On the very next hand Gum raised to 3,700 from UTG+1, and got no callers.

He flashed the {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} as the dealer was sending him the pot.

The {j-Clubs} on the turn was checked by both players and the river brought the {q-Diamonds}. Petree bet 6,000 and he was called, Petree tabled the winning hand {k-Spades}{q-Spades} for a flopped Broadway.
