Sully Binks the Turn

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Joseph Landazzi opened to 1,700 from early position and was called by a player in middle position. Matthew Wright intended to call but accidentally put out a raise to 3,000. Brendan Sully called on the button as did Landazzi and the fourth player.

The flop came {9-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and the action checked to Sully who bet 6,100. Landazzi check-raised to 16,100 which forced the other two players out of the hand. Sully thought for a minute and then moved all in for 24,900 which prompted a snap-call from Landazzi.

Sully turned over {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} but was up against a set when Landazzi tabled {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}. However, the {10-Diamonds} on the turn gave Sully a larger set and huge lead in the hand. The river was the {3-Spades} and Sully managed to find a double up.

Simms Out-Kicks Dougherty

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Matthew Dougherty limped in from middle position and Garry Simms raised it up to 1,500 in the cutoff. Brian Bauman called on the button as did Kyle Besaw in the small blind and Dougherty.

The flop fell {j-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Besaw checked to Dougherty who bet out 3,000. Simms raised to 8,000 and both Bauman and Besaw folded. Dougherty called to see the {9-Spades} pair the board on the turn.

Dougherty check-called another bet of 7,000 from Simms and the {7-Hearts} landed on the river. Four cards to a straight on the board slowed down the action as both players knuckled the table. Dougherty tabled {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs} but Simms had a stronger kicker with {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} to rake in the pot.

Another Monster for Worden

Level 6 : 200/500, 500 ante

A huge pot was brewing at the front of the room and it involved three different players. The flop of {j-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} was already spread across the felt and David Miller along with David Worden had all of their chips in the middle. Miller was the shorter stack and the players were waiting on Michael Carter to make a decision.

Carter eventually called Worden's all in and the cards were on their backs. Worden showed {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs} for a set of sevens while both of his opponent's held {k-}{j-}. The {4-Clubs} on the turn locked up the pot for Worden as he scooped everything to send himself into the chip lead.

In a four-way limped pot, the dealer fanned the flop of {10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and the action checked to Mary Statt on the button who bet 2,200 into a pot of 4,000. Both of the blinds folded and Greg Raymer called from the cutoff.

The turn brought the {k-Hearts} and Raymer check-called another bet of 6,000 from Statt. The {a-Hearts} completed the board and Raymer announced all in for 19,600. Statt asked for a count and then made the call. Raymer flipped over {5-Spades}{4-Spades} for a straight which topped Statt's {3-Spades}{3-Hearts} for a full double up.

Bonta Comes Oh So Close

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

With a completed board of {q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{4-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} spread across the table, the action was on James Pupillo in middle position. He tossed in a bet of 11,500 into a pot of around 20,000. Vincent Bonta was his opponent and he chose to check-raise to 30,000 from the small blind.

Pupillo sat with his head in his hands, trying to come to a decision. Over a minute later, Pupillo splashed in the chips to call. "Good call," Bonta said as he tabled pocket jacks.

Pupillo turned over {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} for a set of queens and admitted it was a good attempt from Bonta. "That was a great bet. I just happened to be at the top of my range," Pupillo explained.

Tran Sends Percal to the Registration Desk

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

Alan Percal is one of the most accomplished players in the field today, with a WSOP gold bracelet to his name. Percal captured his bracelet in the 2016 $10,000 Heads-Up Championship for a payday of over $320,000. Percal hasn't played a lot of poker since that but does dip into some high roller events from time to time.

He's had his hands full with David Tran from the start of the day and the two clashed again in another big pot. With around 40,000 already in the middle and the board reading {9-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{7-Hearts}, Tran announced all in from the blinds. Percal was left with around 18,000 behind and took his time before finally making the call.

Tran quickly flopped over {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} for top pair and Percal wasn't able to beat as his cards hit the muck. Percal took off to the registration desk and was seen taking a new seat shortly after.
