The final starting flight has drawn to a close in the Heartland Poker Tour $1,100 Main Event at Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg. With 47 players moving on from Day 1c, David Keller will return for Day 2 with the overall chip lead and 516,000 chips.

Keller remained patient throughout most of the day and timed his spots perfectly. Twice, he picked up pocket aces and got max value, tripling up one time and doubling up another. Keller managed to take over the chip lead in the latter stages of the last level as the only player over 500,000 chips.

A few more of the big stacks to move on from Day 1c include Ronnie Day (516,000), Jake Bazeley (455,000), Iverson Snuffer (431,000), and John Nelson (342,000). Bazeley is the most notable of the remaining players left in the field with over $4.4 million in career earnings. The Cincinnati native lives just a short drive away from Lawrenceburg, Indiana and is looking to pocket yet another six-figure score to add to his resume.

The ballroom on the bottom floor of the casino was packed with poker players right from the start of the day. Over 80 players took their seats when the action kicked off at 12pm. The tournament staff had their hands full trying to open more tables to keep up with the number of entries throughout the registration period. When late registration closed, there were a total of 293 entries for Day 1c.

That brought the total to 555 entries for the Main Event, which more than doubled the guaranteed prizepool of $250,000. When the players return for Day 2 tomorrow, there will be $532,800 up for grabs with 63 places getting paid. There will be 86 players returning on Sunday all looking to get their hands on some cash.

There was no shortage of action in the early going today, with two eliminations occurring in the first 10 minutes of play. David Worden was the beneficiary of one those player's starting stacks but he was unable to hold on to those chips long enough to find a bag. Some other names to hit the rail include Greg Raymer, Bruce Hugon, Michael Shanahan, and James Pupillo.

Some other notables that were fortunate enough to bag up chips include Ian Richardson (224,000), Henry Zou (187,000), Nick Pupillo (183,000), Nick Guagenti (153,000), Kyle Besaw (129,000), and the Stammen brothers Matthew (148,000) and Keven (61,000).

The action will resume at 11am on Sunday with just over 20 eliminations away from the money. The blinds will begin at 2,500/5,000 with a 5,000 big blind ante. The levels will continue at 40-minutes in length and the schedule is to play down to the final nine players.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be back to bring you all of the live updates throughout the Main Event.

Last Hands of the Night

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

The tournament clock has been paused and there will be six more hands on each of the tables before play concludes for the night. At that point, players will bag and tag their chips to return for Day 2.

Jansen Wins a Flip to Cap the Night

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

There was a raise from middle position and George Jansen stuck in a three-bet to 40,000 from the small blind. The action was back on the initial raiser who four-bet jammed for 98,500. Jansen thought for a minute and then made the call to put his opponent at risk.

George Jansen: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Opponent: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}

It was a coin flip and Jansen took the lead on the flop of {a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Hearts}. The {k-Hearts} on the turn changed nothing and Jansen narrowly avoided disaster when the {8-Spades} hit the river.

Pupillo Working His Way Up the Leaderboard

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Nick Pupillo raised it from the hijack and Alex Hencheck flatted on the button. The flop came {j-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades} and Pupillo continued for 12,000. Hencheck called and the {8-Diamonds} landed on the turn.

Pupillo tossed in another bet of 27,000 and Hencheck stuck around to see the {j-Clubs} on the river. With a double-paired board, Pupillo checked this time and Hencheck thought for a bit but eventually decided to check it back. Good thing he did, as Pupillo tabled {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for a full house and raked in the pot.

Day Running Up a Stack Into the Night

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

The action folded to John Gravagna who raised it up on the button and Ronnie Day defended from the big blind. The flop came {a-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and both players checked to the {9-Spades} on the turn.

Day checked again and Gravagna tossed in a bet of 10,000. Day check-raised to 35,000 but Gravagna wanted to see a river. The {7-Spades} paired the board on the river and Day counted out a bet of 55,000. Gravagna mulled it over for a minute but then slid his cards to the muck. Day turned over {9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} to show that he got counterfeit on the river.

Bazeley Picks Off a Shanahan Bluff

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Jake Bazeley raised it from middle position and Michael Shanahan defended from the big blind. The flop fell {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and Shanahan checked to Bazeley who continued for 8,000. Shanahan check-raised to 20,500 and Bazeley called.

The turn brought the {a-Diamonds} and Shanahan led out for a pot-sized bet of 50,000. Bazeley called and the {4-Clubs} hit the river. Shanahan ripped all in for 95,500 which sent Bazeley back in his seat. He thought for over two minutes and eventually dropped in a call.

Shanahan frustratingly turned over {j-Spades}{5-Spades} while Bazeley showed {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts} to take down the pot and eliminate Shanahan.
