That's a Mean One, Mr. Grinch

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante
David Moses
David Moses

Michael Schlegel raised to 600 from early position, and was called by a player in middle position, as well as David Moses in the hijack.

Schlegel bet 900 on the {j-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop, and only Moses called.

Schlegel bet 1,600 on the {j-Diamonds} turn, and Moses stuck around with another call.

The {8-Hearts} hit the river, and Schlegel quickly checked. Moses thought for a few moments, looking down at his Grinch card protector as he did, before checking back, and after Schlegel tabled {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}, Moses rolled over {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts} for the winner.

"The Maven" Binks an Early Double

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

"I got a fun one for ya," David "The Maven" Gutfreund told us during a round of the tables, and he shared with us a hand that led to the elimination of the player to his right.

The eliminated player raised to 300 from under the gun, and was called by Gutfreund next to act, as well as Kenneth Brunette in the small blind and Joseph Melby in the big blind.

Action checked to the under-the-gun player on a {10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{3-Spades} flop, and he bet 700. Gutfreund raised to 2,000, and after the blinds folded, the under-the-gun player jammed, and Gutfreund called.

Opponent: {k-}{k-}
David Gutfreund: {a-}{a-}

Gutfreund's aces held for the knockout after a blank turn and river, and Gutfreund sits with a strong stack an hour into Day 1c.

Terpstra Shows One

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

On a {5-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} board, Eric Hardt a 5,000 chip in front of him, but was contemplating an all-in bet from Ryan Terpstra to his right.

"A really good flop," Hardt said to himself, then followed up with, "Better turn."

Hardt tanked for a few more minutes until a clock was called. Just a few seconds after HPT Tournament Director Jeremy Smith arrived at the table to begin the 30-second clock, Hardt folded.

"Phew!" Terpstra said, flashing the {a-Hearts} from his hand before mucking both of his cards. "Good thing you don't know I play PLO!"

Glomb Wins With a Flop Raise

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

Brette Glomb raised to 300 from middle position, and Jorden Helstern three-bet to 1,300 on the button. Both of the blinds called, as did Glomb.

The small blind checked the {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop, and the big blind bet 1,200. Glomb raised to 3,500, which chased Helstern and the small blind out. The big blind thought for a few moments, then pushed his hand in as well, shipping the pot to Glomb.

Schlegel Spikes a Set

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

David Moses checked a {j-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop from the big blind, and the cutoff bet 700. Michael Schlegel called on the button, as did Moses.

Moses checked again on the {5-Spades} turn, and the cutoff bet 1,500. Schlegel raised to 3,500, and Moses tanked for a bit before releasing his hand. The cutoff followed suit, and Schlegel showed {3-Hearts}{3-Spades} to the table before pulling down the pot.

Rogowski Starts Off Strong

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

There was already a pot of more than 7,000 built up when Andy Rogowski bet 3,700 from under the gun on a {3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{j-Spades}{4-Spades}{6-Hearts} board. His opponent threw in chips for a call, and Rogowski tabled {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a straight. His opponent mucked, and Rogowski, quietly stacked up the pot.

Rogowski, who fired in yesterday's Day 1b flight but failed to advance, has already increased his stack by 33% just minutes into today's final flight.
