Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Barany Wins One From Mader

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Tim Barany checked a {2-Hearts}{10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades} board from under the gun, and Phil Mader fired a bet of 14,000 from middle position into the pot of 20,000. Barany considered his options for a moment, then called.

Both players checked the {2-Spades} river, and Barany tabled {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. Mader flashed his hand briefly, then said "Nice hand," and Barany took down the pot.

Herstein Doubles Before Dinner

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Gary Herstein
Gary Herstein

Action checked to Gary Herstein on a {q-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop, and he bet 5,000 from the button. Both of his opponents in the hand, the small blind and a middle position player, made the call.

The {2-Spades} turn was checked through, and the {a-Spades} hit the river. The small blind bet 5,000, and the middle position player folded.

"All in," Herstein said after a few moments. The small blind called, revealing {k-Hearts}{j-Spades} for a flush, but Herstein had the nut flush with {a-Hearts}{k-Spades} for the double.

Trost Fires at Schulz

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Craig Trost raised to 2,500 on the button, and Kevin Schulz made the call in the big blind.

Schulz checked the {5-Spades}{a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} flop over to Trost, who bet 2,000. Schulz called.

The {4-Hearts} fell on the turn, and Schulz checked again. Trost bet 6,500, and Schulz gave it up.

Speedy Play Pays For Mangold

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Matt Shepsky raised to 2,100 on the button, and Jason Mangold called in the big blind.

Both players checked the {3-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{k-Spades} flop, and Mangold quickly checked the {8-Diamonds} turn. Shepsky bet 1,800 and Mangold snap-called.

The {3-Hearts} fell on the river, and Mangold fired out 2,000. Shepsky raised to 5,500, and Mangold again snap-called.

"You're good," Shepsky said, tabling {10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. Mangold turned over {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}, then said, "Sorry, I wasn't trying to slowroll."

"That was the opposite of a slowroll," Shepsky said, to a round of laughs from the table.

Big Slick Does the Trick Against Aces

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Jerry Miller had an opponent at risk for his last 30,000 before the flop, but was in rough shape;

Opponent: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Jerry Miller: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Miller's prospects for scoring the pot seemed dim, but the table gasped as the {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} flop delivered Miller Broadway and a huge lead. The {3-Hearts} turn and {8-Diamonds} river left Miller's straight as the nuts, and he scored the elimination.

Morris Spins it Up

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Mark Morris, who was down to 2,000 on his last bullet just a few levels ago, checked an {8-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{7-Hearts} board from middle position, and next to act, Rich Alsup bet 5,500 into a pot of 15,000. Morris check-raised all in for 23,100, and Alsup called after some time in the tank.

Mark Morris: {a-Spades}{7-Spades}
Rich Alsup: {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Morris needed to dodge a six to earn the double, and he did one better by filling up on the {7-Diamonds} river.
