King Spikes Ace for the Double

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Kelly Rhoades opened to 2,200 from under the gun, and Larry King shoved all in for 12,900 next to act. Action folded around to Brett Apter in the cutoff, who four-bet to 25,000. Rhoades gave it some thought before finally deciding on a fold.

King: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Apter: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

King nailed his three-outer on the flop when the board ran out {8-Spades}{a-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Spades}{4-Hearts}, and the dealer shipped the chips his way.

Seven Players, One Flop

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Joshua Henrichs raised to 2,500 from middle position, and much to the bemusement of the table, all six remaining players all made the call.

Action checked all the way over to Mark Burgess on the button after the {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{q-Clubs} flop hit the felt, and he bet 5,000. One by one, all six of his opponents folded.

"Must've had all the jacks and queens!" Harry Sablotny told Burgess, who grinned before raking in the pot.

Moon Adds to Sizable Stack

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Chris Moon min-raised to 2,000 on the button, and both the small blind and Larry King in the big blind called.

On the {q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop, the small blind checked, and King led out for 5,000, leaving 20,000 behind. Moon clicked it back for 10,000, the small blind folded, and King grimaced as he let his cards go.

Sailor Bricks His Draw, Still Wins

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Brad Sailor raised to 2,200 from the hijack, and was called by Larry King in the small blind and Jeff Roberson in the big blind.

All three players checked through the {9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} flop, and King bet 2,800 on the {3-Clubs} turn. Both Roberson and Sailor called.

The {8-Clubs} river was checked through, and King motioned to muck his hand.

"I got a pair," Roberson said before revealing {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a busted straight and flush draw that found a pair of eights on the river.

"I got a pair!" Sailor replied, revealing the {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a busted straight draw that also hit the eight on the river, and Sailor's superior kicker earned him the pot after King mucked.

Quick Flick by Shin

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Mike Shin opened to 2,300 from the hijack and was called by Andreas Ioakmides in the small blind and Joshua Henrichs in the big blind.

Nobody fired on a flop of {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}{5-Spades}. Ioakmides led out for 3,000 on the {7-Spades} turn, and only Shin called.

The river brought the {7-Clubs}, and Ioakmides tossed in a single 5,000 chip, which Shin promptly matched. Ioakmides showed his {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}, and Shin turned over {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for the win.

Rossitto, Williams Trending Up; Martines Out

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Stephen Martines
Stephen Martines

Stephen Martines limped in from under the gun, and Freddy Williams raised to 3,000 from the cutoff. Martines called.

Martines checked the {9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} flop to Williams, who bet 6,200. Martines, who only had 21,000 behind, folded. Martines would bust a short time later.

Williams now assumes one of the top stacks in the room, while at Table 41, Michael Rossitto has been on a tear in a short time, running his stack up to near the leaders in the room with around an hour-and-a-half of play remaining for the evening.

Moon Keeps Rising

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Matt Higgins opened to 2,500 from the cutoff, seeing only one call from Chris Moon in the big blind.

Action checked through the {3-Spades}{a-Spades}{3-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{k-Clubs} board, and Moon rolled over {k-Spades}{2-Spades} for kings-up and the scoop.

Higgins Doubles Again

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Jeff Roberson raised to 2,500 on the button, and Matt Higgins three-bet shoved for 14,200 from the small blind. Roberson called.

Matt Higgins: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Jeff Roberson: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}

"Let's see if I can win a flip!" Roberson said.

Roberson found top set on the {8-Spades}{j-Spades}{5-Hearts} flop to give him a commanding lead, one he would keep on the {3-Diamonds} turn and {k-Hearts} river for another double.
