Daryl McAleenan raised to 400,000 in the cutoff. Francesco Gisolfi upped the ante to 955,000 on the button, and McAleenan called when the action had folded back to him.
McAleenan checked the 3♥K♣J♣ flop over to Gisolfi, who continued for 455,000. McAleenan called, after which the A♣ turned was checked through.
McAleenan also checked the 10♣ river. Gisolfi took another peek at his cards before firing 900,000 into the middle. McAleenan used his final time bank, then tossed in a calling chip.
Gisolfi could only show a pair of eights with 8♠8♦. McAleenan tabled K♦10♦ for two pair, and received some compliments from the table as he dragged the pot.
Danilo Donnini kicked the action off with a raise to 400,000 from the hijack. Barry Furlong then three-bet to 1,000,000 from the button, which only Donnini called.
The dealer spread a J♦K♣K♥ flop, and when Donnini checked, Furlong moved all in for around 1,400,000. Donnini snap-called.
Barry Furlong: A♦A♥
Danilo Donnini: K♦Q♣
The flop had Furlong in a world of trouble, and when the 3♥ turn and 2♣ river offered no help, Furlong was eliminated.
When the action got to Dan Wilson, he saw a Luca Bernardi raise ahead of him. After some consideration, Wilson moved all in for 2,100,000. There was no sweat for the former champion, as Bernardi released his cards when the action returned to him.
Battling blind versus blind, Steve O'Dwyer and Manuel Ferrari got all the chips in preflop. Ferrari's 2,720,000 was the shortest of the two stacks, and as such, it was the Italian at risk.
Manuel Ferrari: A♦J♦
Steve O'Dwyer: A♠9♠
Although he didn't necessarily need it, the Q♦4♦4♥ flop provided Ferrari with a flush draw, reducing O'Dwyer's outs.
The 7♥ turn and 6♣ river didn't connect with either player, and Ferrari scooped in a full double.
With action on Ivan Chegusov, he raised to 320,000. One seat to his left, Mael Chicot three-bet to 825,000. When the action folded back to Chegusov, he moved all in for roughly 6,000,000, and Chicot called.
Ivan Chegusov: 6♠6♦
Mael Chicot: J♣J♦
The A♦7♦4♣ flop offered no help to Chegusov, and when the J♥ joined the board, he was drawing dead.
As the dealer completed the board with the 9♣, Chegusov got up out of his seat, having been eliminated.
In a pot worth around 700,000, Ali Abdulzahra checked the 8♥J♥A♦ from middle position to Ashkan Ahmedov on the button, who bet 280,000.
Abdulzahra called, and check-called again when Ahmedov sized up to 850,000 on the 5♦ turn. A third check from Abdulzahra followed on the 4♠ river. Ahmedov piled in 1,800,000, and Abdulzahra called after spending a little time in the tank.
Ahmedov confidently tabled A♠K♥ for top pair, but much to his frustration, Abdulzahra had rivered two pair with his A♣4♦ to be awarded the sizable pot.
One hand later, Gavin Sardini committed his final 305,000 under the gun. Tyrell Soleyn was the only interested party and looked Sardini up on the button.
Gavin Sardini: 7♠5♠
Tyrell Soleyn: K♠10♠
Sardini had several straight draws after the 9♠6♦2♣4♣ turn, but the K♦ river presented Soleyn with top pair to take the pot and knock out the South African player.
Bruno Hennig opened to 300,000 from the hijack, which only Gerard Carbo called on the button.
The dealer spread a 7♠K♦2♣ flop, which saw Hennig continue with a bet of 250,000. Once again, Carbo called.
Both players then checked on the K♥ turn, and the 2♠ completed the board.
After a moment of consideration, Hennig moved all in for 1,700,000. After the use of a time extension, Carbo put one chip into the middle, signifying a call.
Hennig showed that he was bluffing, flipping over 9♥8♥. Carbo had a slow-played A♥A♣ and, as such, eliminated Hennig.
Jeff Kimber shoved all in for 1,000,000 in middle position and was looked up by Michael Prendergast on the button.
Jeff Kimber: K♣10♠
Michael Prendergast: A♥J♣
Kimber had one out to a chop after the 3♥A♣3♠3♣ turn, but the K♠ river did not bring the final three on the felt. Prendergast raked in the pot, eliminating Kimber and conquering the chip lead at the table.
