2024 Galway Poker Festival
Ken Crowley open-jammed for 148,000 from early position and Jamie Flynn in the seat next to him rejammed for around 500,000 chips. The rest of the table folded and a showdown was ordered.
Ken Crowley: A♠Q♥
Jamie Flynn: A♣K♥
Crowley pleaded for a queen, but a king came instead on the 3♥7♠K♣ flop. The 3♦ turn had him drawing dead, and the 2♣ river sent him off to the payout desk.
Daryl McAleenan squeezed all in for 160,000 chips from the small blind and he was called by Bram Kuppens on the button.
Daryl McAleenan: A♦K♣
Bram Kuppens: 8♥8♣
McAleenan could not hit either of his cards on the 6♣7♦Q♣9♣J♥ runout, and his stack was sent Kuppen's way.
The bubble has just burst here in the Main Event.
Glenn Keogh opened to 32,000 in the cutoff and was faced with a three-bet jam by Matthew Blayney to 236,000 in the small blind. Keogh made the call to put Blayney at risk.
Matthew Blayney: A♠Q♥
Glenn Keogh: A♣J♦
Blayney was in a dominating position but the players seemed set for a chopped pot after the board ran out K♥9♦9♣K♣.
Keogh called for a jack as the dealer prepared to put out the river, and sure enough the J♣ rolled off to seal a painful exit for Blayney.
Keogh meanwhile chipped up to a huge stack of 1,500,000.
Juan Diaz-Caneja raised from early position before Colette Murphy jammed all in for 241,000 from the next seat over. The action folded back to Diaz-Caneja, who quickly called.
Once all other tables finished play, a showdown was ordered.
Juan Diaz-Caneja: K♦K♣
Colette Murphy: A♥K♥
No ace appeared on the 8♣Q♦4♥3♣4♠ board, resulting in Murphy finishing two spots before the money.
On another table, Jude Ainsworth was all-in for his final 16,000 chips against Huy Hang.
Jude Ainsworth: Q♠10♦
Huy Hang: 4♥4♦
Ainsworth paired his ten on the 3♥6♥10♣ flop, and while the 5♠ turn brought a sweat, the A♣ river remained clean as the bubble kept going.
Kevin O'Malley opened to 32,000 in the cutoff and Willo Connolly three-bet jammed from the button for 134,000.
O'Malley comfortably covered Connolly but took some time over his decision before making the call.
Willo Connolly: A♣8♥
Kevin O'Malley: K♥10♣
Connolly was ahead but that soon changed after the K♣J♦6♦ flop left Connolly drawing to an ace, which did not arrive on the J♣ turn and 10♠ river.
Connolly exited and the tournament director announced that the clock would be paused for bubble play. 86 players currently remain with 84 paid.
Ian Gascoigne got his final 200,000 or so chips in from the small blind against Matthew Greig on the button and was at risk.
Ian Gascoigne: 6♥6♦
Matthew Greig: J♠J♥
Greig's bigger pair held comfortably while the board ran out 10♠8♣4♠Q♦4♦, sending Gascoigne home some ten places before the money.
Enda McKiernan got his 240,000 chips in the middle from the small blind against Gerard Wynne on the button.
Enda McKiernan: J♠J♦
Gerard Wynne: A♠A♣
Both players hit four of a kind on the K♣K♠K♥K♦5♦ board, but Wynne's ace kicker gave him the best hand.
McKiernan laughed about the situation as he took his exit well before the money.
