Allen Plays the Hero
Denis Brosnahan raised to 700 from under the gun and Dermot Allen called from the next seat over. Liam McVeigh then put in a three-bet to 2,400 as next to act, and the action folded back to Brosnahan.
He put in calling chips, and Allen came along as well to see a flop of J♦5♣K♥, which got checked around. The action checked to McVeigh once more on the 4♦ turn, but this time he fired a bet of 3,200. Brosnahan quickly got out of the way, but Allen stuck around with a call.
The J♥ river completed the board and Allen checked for a third time. McVeigh put 5,500 more into the middle, which put Allen into the tank. Eventually, he came up with a call.
McVeigh sighed as he tabled his A♦3♦ for nothing but missed draws, after which Allen showed down 10♠10♥. His pocket pair was good enough to rake in the pot, which he did while receiving some compliments from the other players.
