Grinding to a Halt?

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We reported earlier on some of the hands Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi had played and how he was aggressively chipping up. Things have certainly changed since then.

I arrived at his table to hear that he has just doubled up an opponent and taken a severe hit to his stack.

From playing nearly every hand earlier “The Grinder” suddenly had to slow down. I watched for the next twenty minutes as he folded hand after hand.

Faced with a raise to 2,000 from UTG+1 Mizrachi elected to call only for the button to make it 8,000. Would this be the hand where Mizrachi makes his move? UTG answered that by making it 26,000 and taking down the pot.

There was a slight chill in the tent on the pitch now and Mizratchi pulled his jacket on backwards to keep warm.

UTG+1 Mizrachi opened for 2,000 and was called by the active player next to him and the small blind. There was a dead big blind for this hand.

The flop was {2-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {9-Hearts}

Small blind checked and Mizrachi bet 5,000. The player to his left called and the small blind folded.

The {A-Hearts} on the turn prompted both players to check and the river brought the {K-Hearts}

With the board showing four hearts Mizrachi checked his cards for the first time since the flop was dealt. Did he see a heart there?
A 7,500 bet said to his opponent that he did, but he wasn’t convinced and called.

Mizrachi shrugged indicating that he for one didn’t have a heart, and his opponent tabled the {6-Spades} {7-Hearts}

Mizrachi shrugged and threw in his cards. It wasn’t going to plan. His chips were running out. Just what will he do to get out of this hole?

After that hand Mizrachi was left with a stack of 36,000.

Huntly Becomes The Hunted

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Mark Hutchison opened to 2,100 from under the gun only to see Gordon Huntly three-bet from the next seat over to 4,500. The action then folded around to Abhishek Khaitan in the big blind and he four-bet all in for around 28,000. Htchison folded but Huntly made the call.

Huntly: {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}
Khaitan: {K-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

Khaitan took the lead as the flop came down {2-Spades}{K-Clubs}{9-Spades} and stayed there as the turn and river fell {6-Diamonds} and {10-Hearts}.

Huntly still has plenty of chips so is not in any sort of trouble just yet.

Adeniya Eliminated

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Martins Adeniya has been eliminated during Level 8. While we do not have his exit hand, we do know there is new person seated to Peter Eastgate's left so it is safe to assume Adeniya is out of the ISPT Main Event.

Bendinelli Takes on Tony G

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Giuliano Bendinelli has just shown real heart and commitment in a hand against Tony G.

Tony G opened to 2,000 from the cutoff and Xavier el Fassy called on the button. Ryan Passey called from the small blind and Bendinelli put in the extra chips from the big blind.

The flop came down {A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and everyone checked to Tony G. The infamous Lithuanian fired a 6,000 bet into his opponents and it looked as if it was going to win the pot for him until Bendinelli decided to check-raise to 15,500. Tony G sat staring at his opponent before sending his cards to the muck.

"There's my first hand against Tony G," said Bendinelli with a tone of a happy man!

"Well done, " Tony G replied.

Saout Still Soaring...

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Antoine Saout is on a bit of a tear at the moment, in a multiway pot he bet 5,600 on a {4-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop before a short stack to his left moved all in for about 24,000. Everyone else folded and Saout called with {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}, dominating his opponent's {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}. The {5-Clubs} turn and {5-Hearts} river changed nothing and Saout is now up to 120,000.

"Marvelous," said Jon Spinks who sits directly to the right of Saout.
