Neil McCulloch’s Dream is Over

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Scotland’s Neil McCulloch’s fell just after play resumed after the dinner break.

Facing a raise to 12,000 from early position he shoved the last of his stack in and got called by the early position raiser. McCulloch turned over his {9-Clubs} {9-Spades} and was at least happy to be in a race facing {A-Spades} {Q-Hearts}

The board ran out {Q-Spades} {3-Spades} {10-Spades} {6-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} and it was all over for the braveheart.

He takes home €1,275

Ellwood Chopped Down to Size

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Jack Ellwood
Jack Ellwood

Jack Ellwood has been eliminated, the English online pro was all in for his last 60,000 or so with {A-Clubs}{2-Spades} from late position, but the button behind him made the call with {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. Both hit pairs but Ellwood found himself outkicked by the river of a {3-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs} board.

Liz Lieu Loses

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

ISPT Ambassador Liz Lieu has crashed out of the tournament — she actually busted just before the players went onto the dinner break — when her pocket nines couldn't stay ahead of {A-}{Q-}, which had made two pair by the turn.

Bansi Doubles

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Two-time WSOP bracelet winner Praz Bansi has twice the amount of chips he had a few minutes ago after doubling up over on Table 25.

Dan Morgan opened to 10,000, Bansi three-bet to 22,000 and in a flurry of action there was a four-bet from Stephen Rawle, a fold from Morgan, a shove from Bansi for 178,500 and an instant call!

Bansi opened the {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} and was way in front of his opponent's {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}. Bansi could not have asked for a better flop than the {Q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} he received and when the turn and river were the {2-Clubs} and {8-Clubs} his double up was complete.

Not Tony's Day

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Tony G
Tony G

Well, this will be a day Tony G will want to forget. He lost with the best hand three times in a row - to the same player.

First he lost with {10-}{10-} to {7-}{7-}. Then {K-}{K-} to {A-}{K-}.

Finally, on a {K-}{J-}{7-} flop, the G held {K-}{J-} for a flopped two pair but his nemesis held {Q-}{10-} and managed to river a straight. Tony G is talking at Oxford Union tomorrow, let's hope those bad beats are out of his system by then!

Frankland Pushes Out a Drawing Hand and Chops a Pot

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

On a flop of {J-Clubs} {K-Spades} {10-Clubs} the hi-jack and Matt Frankland checked to the button who bet 13,000.

The hi-jack was happy to see another card and called, but Matt Frankland had other ideas and check raised to 29,500. The button quickly moved all in for 170,000 and the action was back on the hi-jack.

He had just over 60,000 left and was faced with a decision for his tournament life. He agonised over it for nearly five minutes and decided against the call.

Frankland instantly called and showed {A-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} while his opponent tabled {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} Chop Chop.

The {Q-Clubs} and {6-Diamonds} completed the board. The player who folded reeled away in disgust claiming to have folded {K-Clubs} {9-Clubs} which would have given him the straight flush.

You gotta be in it to win it.

Sam Trickett Surges Up The Counts

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Sam Trickett is flying high and armed with 600,000 chips, which spells bad news to the rest of the field.

"How many chips are you playing now?" we asked Trickett.

"I don't know," he said as he stacked another opponent's chips up.

Trickett has 600,000, some of which used to belong to Sergio Aido. Down to 37,000, Aido moved all in from the button with what turned out to be {8-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Trickett called from the big blind seat with {A-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}.

Aido caught a deuce on the flop, but same paired his ace on the river of a {Q-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} board and the Spaniard's exit was confirmed.
