Day 3 Completed

Daniel Chutrov Leads the Way After Day 3 of the OlyBet Kings of Tallinn Main Event

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Daniel Chutrov heads into Day 4 of the 2018 OlyBet Kings of Tallinn €1,100 Main Event in the chip lead with 638,000 in chips. The Bulgarian is shooting for his second big win after previously shipping the 2015 Unibet Open Glasgow Main Event for £43,000.

The day began with 60 hopefuls competing for the €62,000 top prize or at least the minimum cash paid to the top 31 players. The first blind level witnessed a slew of eliminations before the action slowed down during the second blind level.

The money bubble was reached near the end of the fourth blind level of the day after Maksim Petrov was eliminated in 32nd place when his pocket jacks were unable to outflip his opponents ace-king.

A break took place shortly after, and it only took 30 minutes for the field to be further trimmed from 31 to 24 players with each player cashing for €2,110 including Team OlyBet Pro Raigo Aasmaa.

In addition to Chutrov, two other players finished the day with more than 600,000 in chips including Lithuania's Arunas Garunkstis (second - 626,000) and Team OlyBet Pro Dmitrijs Meless (third - 623,000).

Garunkstis began the day with a big stack and extended it by the end while Meless started the day with 132,000 and zoomed up in the standings consistently throughout the day.

After the day was over, Meless shared with PokerNews that his day started very strongly after he doubled up against a highly aggressive player with pocket jacks against pocket nines.

He further explained that he was moved to a softer table where he chipped up further by three-bet bluffing and didn't have to go all-in once. He moved to a third table before the bubble and he shared that a "green light" went off and he was raising just about every pot to chip up further.

Near the end the day, he took out two short stacks to bag a third-place stack into Day 4. The Latvian feels good about the rest of the tournament even though he understands that anything can change at any time.

"Everything changes every minute," shared Meless. "But, I have a very good feeling about the rest of the tournament."

Also having a good day was Arto Antero Lehtonen ending the day with 514,000 in chips and Day 2 chip leader and Finnish poker legend Juha Helppi bagging a fifth-place stack of 474,000.

The action resumes tomorrow at 12 p.m. local time and play until the field is reduced from 24 players to 9 players. Blinds will resume at 5,000/10,000 with an ante of 1,000 for the remaining 30 minutes left on the clock when the day ended.

As was the case the past three days, the PokerNews live reporting team will be back on the floor to provide complete coverage tomorrow and beyond until a winner is declared.

Jari Juhani Porkka Eliminated in 25th Place

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Day 3 has just ended after Jari Juhani Porkka was eliminated in 25th place for €2,110. The action began with a player in early position firing out a min-raise of 20,000. Porkka then jammed for 100,000 before he was isolated by Shahin Nejad in the blinds.

Porkka was in a world of hurt after he turned over ace-king and his opponent turned over pocket aces. The board was unable to save Porkka and the action and Nejad was able to pad his stack up to 461,000 heading into Day 4.

Dmitrijs Meless Eliminates Teemu Aukusti Toikkanen

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Teemu Aukusti Toikkanen open-jammed for 100,000 with {k-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} from late position and was called by Team OlyBet Pro Dmitrijs Meless with {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}.

The {6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{9-Diamonds} board was of no help to Toikkanen and he hit the rail in 26th place for €2,110. Play will stop for the day after one more elimination.

Joonas Henrik Syvertsen and Tanel Evert Hit the Rail

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Eliminations after the break are taking place at a fast and furious pace. Joonas Henrik Syvertsen just hit the rail in 28th place after he jammed pocket aces and couldn't hold against the ace-king held by Arto Ilmari Loikkanen after an ace spiked the flop.

Right after, Tanel Evert, who made the final table last year during the Kings of Tallinn Main Event, was unable to go back to back after he hit the rail in 27th place.

Both Syversen and Evert collected the minimum cash of €2,110. Play will break for the day after two more players are eliminated.

Raigo Aasmaa Eliminated in 30th Place (€2,110)

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Raigo Aasmaa
Raigo Aasmaa

Team OlyBet Pro Raigo Aasmaa was hoping to run-up his short-stack. However, instead he hit the rail also on the first hand after the break.

A player opened up with ace-king to 20,000 and Aasmaa called with queen-jack from the big blind. Aasmaa then jammed for 80,000 on the {10-}{9-}{7-} and his opponent tanked before he called.

The board ran out all blanks and Aasmaa collected the 30th place prize of €2,110. Shortly afterward, Jyri Tapio Merivirta hit the rail in 29th place for the same amount as Aasmaa.
