Nitsche Out Kicked

Action folded over to Dominik Nitsche and he raised to 150. The player in the next seat reraised to 400. Nitsche made the call and the flop came down {7-Spades}{4-Clubs}{2-Hearts}. Both players checked the flop to see the {10-Spades} fall on the turn.

Nitsche checked and his opponent fired 600. Nitsche made the call.

The river completed the board with the {2-Clubs} and Nitsche checked again. His opponent fired a hefty 3,000. Nitsche thought for a moment and then called it off. His opponent showed the {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and won the pot. Nitsche only showed the {10-Clubs}.

Brunelli Slips

Five players committed 175 preflop to see a {A-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop.

The action was checked round to see the {8-Clubs} land on the turn and Team PokerStars Online member Diego Brunelli fired out 475 after the action was checked through to him.

Both the blinds folded, before Brunelli was met with one call and one more fold as the {2-Diamonds} landed on the river.

Both Brunelli and his opponent checked it through to see the Brunelli's opponent table his {A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} to collect the pot as Brunelli mucked and slipped to a still rather healthy 28,000 in chips.

Maridu Sets Up Nacho

Barbero off to a bad start
Barbero off to a bad start

Maridu Mayrinck already put a big bump in the road for Jose Ignacio Barbero if he wants to make if three LAPT titles in a row. Mayrinck held pocket nines and flopped a set against Barbero's pocket aces. She took a big pot from Barbero to push her stack to roughly 39,000 while Barbero was left with just 7,000 in chips. It's still early and that's still 140 big blinds, but Barbero isn't too happy at the moment.

The Champ Is Off to a Solid Start

Joe Cada
Joe Cada

Seeing as the WSOP Main Event doesn't conclude until November when the final nine return to play down to a winner, Team PokerStars Pro Joe Cada is still the defending champion.

Cada is down here in Brazil for the LAPT Florianopolis event looking to pad his resume and he's already up to 30,000 in chips from the 20,000-chip starting stack. Within the first couple minutes of the day, Cada made a full house with {Q-}{10-} after flopping three tens and turning a queen to take a nice pot off his opponent.

Overflow?

Currently there are thirty tables situated in the main tournament room, but thankfully the LAPT staff have organised an overflow area just a short walk away.

With over twenty people still in the line to register, the overflow area consists of twelve tables.

At the moment, most of them are empty, but will soon shortly be filled to see this event easily reach the 400-player maximum.
