Baroni Folds to Big Shove

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

On the flop of {J-Spades}{10-Clubs}{3-Spades}, a player fired 7,000 into Emerson Baroni. Baroni raised to 21,000. His opponent came back over the top for an all-in shove worth 141,000. Baroni looked stunned and quickly folded, dropping to 166,000 in chips.

No Third Title for Nacho

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

One of the potentially more compelling storylines of this tournament has been put to bed. Jose "Nacho" Barbero, who won back-to-back LAPT titles during Season 3 at Punta del Este and Lima, has been eliminated from the tournament. He will not be capturing a third title here in Sao Paulo.

Opa!

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Emerson Baroni
Emerson Baroni

Emerson Baroni had been making all the right moves since flopping a set of aces against a set of tens yesterday. He made his first mistake against the button player at his table. That player opened with a raise to 5,500. Baroni got a rough count on the player's stake, then re-raised from the small blind to 31,000. Rodrigo Vieira folded the big blind, giving the button a clean shot to move all in for 44,800. Baroni called in a shot but was disgusted to see that his {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs} was out-pipped by the button's {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. That 10 kicker was the difference on a board of {k-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{4-Clubs}.

Baroni is down to about 160,000.

Chop for Brenes

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

From the button, Alex Brenes raised to 6,000. Only the player in the big blind called and the flop came down {Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Spades}. Both players checked and the {9-Clubs} appeared on the turn. The big blind checked and Brenes bet 6,000. His opponent called.

The river completed the board with the {9-Diamonds} and both players checked. After the big blind turned up the {K-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for a busted flush draw, Brenes tabled the {K-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and the two wound up chopping up the pot.

Mironiuk Out-Flips a Short Stack

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Carlos Mironiuk is a talkative player at the table. Unfortunately we can't understand a word he's saying (that whole language barrier problem). He was recently involved in a pot that he opened pre-flop. A short stack then three-bet all in and was called by a player behind. When action passed to Mironiuk he moved all in as well, or about 170,000.

Mironiuk's huge bet put the third player to a tough spot. Chatter commenced and lasted a few minutes. Finally, the third player folded and seemed not to be able to believe that Mironiuk had {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}. The short stack had {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} for a flip. This round went to Mironiuk, {10-Spades}{j-Hearts}{8-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. He's up to about 220,000.

Climo Eliminated

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Lance Climo
Lance Climo

Lance Climo has seen all of his chips vanish after he got the money in on the turn with the board reading {6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{6-Spades} holding the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}. His opponent had the {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}.

The river completed the board with the {9-Clubs} and ended the hand to send Climo out the door.

A Few More Counts

Leandro Csome has some competition at the top in the form of Santiego Nadal.

Updated Chip Counts

Here's a few of the stacks from the tournament.

Eliminação!

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

We added a word to our two-word Portuguese vocabulary when Bruno De Oliveira Severino moved all in for 10,200 from early position. A player behind him then over-shoved for 16,700 and was called by a third player. Severino had the worst of it with {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}. He was up against {A-Hearts}{q-Spades} and {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, respectively. The big stack's pair of nines held on a flop of {8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{6-Spades}, but Severino turned the {k-Hearts} to make top pair, good for a triple up after the {6-Diamonds} river. The other all-in player lost the side pot.

"Eliminação!" shouted the dealer, holding up that player's seat card.
