Day 3 Completed

Csome Back on Top Heading into Final Table

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Leandro Csome (from Day 1)
Leandro Csome (from Day 1)

Day 3 has ended for the 2011 PokerStars.net Latin American Poker Tour São Paulo Main Event. Moving onto the official final table as the chip leader will be Leandro Csome with 2.875 million in chips.

Alex Manzano started the day as chip leader and kept his aggression up all day long, using the big stack just like a big stack should be used: like a club bashing on shorter stacks. He constantly opened pots preflop if the action got to him unopened. If that didn’t happen and someone else raised in front of him, Manzano would often three-bet, especially against smaller stacks where he would effectively raise enough to force them to a decision for their tournament life.

As the final table grew near, the Chilean Manzano started picking off Brazilian players left and right. First, he eliminated Caio Brites in 13th place. Then, he knocked off Walter Oaquim in 12th place. Following that, Manzano clipped Eduardo Costa in 11th place. After all of this, Manzano had well over two million in chips.

Amos Ben Haim was the last player to go before the remaining nine players all settled in around the main feature table. Ben Haim open-shoved his button for 482,000 holding the {K-Spades}{9-Spades}. Unfortunately for him, Marcio Motta was waiting in the small blind with the {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}. No help came on the {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{10-Hearts}{5-Spades} board and Ben Haim finished in 10th place.

After some time was spent while the players traded chips at the main feature table, Csome pounced against Manzano in a hand that gave him the chip lead and dropped Manzano to second place on the leader board. Manzano check-raised to nearly half a million in chips, but was forced to fold to Csome's reraise on the flop of {J-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}.

After that, Csome eliminated the short-stacked Colonese in ninth place to end the day and officially set the final table.

Fabio Colonese Eliminated in 9th Place (R$31,090)

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Fabio Colonese - 9th place
Fabio Colonese - 9th place

After doubling up Bruno Foster, Fabio Colonese was left with 125,000 in chips. He folded two hands. Then, under the gun, he open-shoved his last 110,000. The table seemed intent to eliminate Colonese, as Joao Bauer, small blind Leandro Csome and big blind Bruno Foster all called. Each player checked the ace-high flop, {q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}. When the turn came the {10-Hearts}, Csome led out for 125,000. Foster and Bauer quickly folded, taking us to the last showdown of the night.

Csome: {q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, two pair and a flush draw
Colonese: {j-Clubs}{8-Hearts}, a double-inside straight draw

Surprisingly, Colonese was still live to any non-heart nine or king. The entire table stood up to await the river, which came the {a-Clubs} to finally end the final table bubble.

Colonese leaves in 9th place as Day 3 draws to a close. We'll have final counts and a recap of the day shortly.

Colonese Crippled

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

That cold dark cloud is coming down on Fabio Colonese. He squeezed out {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} after Bruno Foster open-shoved for 525,000. Colonese called, of course. He had Foster barely covered and found himself in a race against Foster's {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. Colonese paired kings on the flop but Foster picked up a flush draw, {2-Spades}{5-Spades}{k-Spades}. The {10-Spades} that hit the turn left Colonese drawing dead and down to just 125,000 in chips.

Manzano Missing Value and Bleeding Chips

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Alex Manzano has been the comfortable chip leader for most of the day, but a few mis-steps here in the late stages have cost him the lead. First, he missed value against Fabio Colonese after Colonese raised to 90,000 pre-flop and Manzano called from the big blind. Both players checked a flop of {10-Spades}{4-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. When the turn fell the {5-Hearts}, Manzano made a small lead of 70,000. Colonese called.

The river was the {a-Spades}. Manzano checked with the nuts, {7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, hoping to induce a bet from Colonese. Colonese was far too wise to that tactic and checked behind with an ace in his hand. Manzano collected the pot.

A few hands later, Manzano opened to 85,000 pre-flop. Leandro Csome, next to act, re-raised to 265,000. Manzano called to a ragged flop of {4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} and checked. Leandro made a weak-seeming probe of 205,000. Manzano went for a check-raise to 485,000, then quickly folded when Csome three-bet him back for 800,000.

Csome is the new chip leader.

Bauer Gets Value Against Foster

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Joao Bauer took his friend Bruno Foster to for about 300,000 chips as we approach the next break. Bauer opened pre-flop for 65,000, with foster electing to flat-call in position. On an ace-high flop, {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}, Bauer checked and then called a bet of 100,000. The turn {7-Spades} brought another check from Bauer and another bet from Foster, this time for 140,000. Bauer again called. Both players checked the {8-Spades} river. Foster claimed the pot by tabling {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a pair of aces.
